A player successfully sets the perfect ambush in Call of Duty: Warzone DMZ. He believes that his operator skin played a crucial role. But there is a big catch: To get the skin, you have to buy a store bundle.
DMZ is the surprise success of CoD: MW2. The game mode, which is inspired by models like Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown, enjoys great popularity.
Just like in Warzone, you play here on the large map Al Mazrah. However, unlike in Battle Royale, the map does not shrink, so you can let loose as you like – just like MeinMMO author Dariusz Müller, who actually doesn’t care much for Battle Royale.
The goal of this game mode is to complete various missions and then successfully escape using a helicopter. You have to reassemble your equipment each time or find it during a round. You compete against AI and other players. A detailed summary of the game mode can be found here: DMZ – Everything Important at a Glance.
A player has now managed to eliminate 3 opponents all by himself as they tried to escape by helicopter. He believes that his operator skin played a significant role in this. The clip is causing a stir among players.
Did you know that you can unlock weapons for multiplayer and Warzone in DMZ mode? In the video, we explain how exactly that works:
Thanks to an operator skin, a very special maneuver is successful
Which operator skin is it about? For the player ON1C, a ghillie suit was the key to success. He is firmly convinced that the extra camouflage allowed his opponents to overlook him.
But let’s take it step by step: ON1C was alone in the DMZ. This game mode is actually designed for teams of 3 players. If you enter the DMZ alone, the challenge is correspondingly greater.
ON1C made his way to an extraction point when he noticed an enemy team approaching with armored vehicles. Since there were no cover spots there, he did the next best thing: He lay down and trusted that his ghillie suit would provide him with enough camouflage.
In fact, he remained undiscovered and was able to wait for the perfect moment to strike. When the helicopter landed and his enemies thought they were safe, he took his position at the vehicle’s gunner seat and opened fire.
His enemies had no chance and fell one after the other. ON1C believes that his operator skin was the decisive factor. You can watch the whole scene here in his video:
Pay2Win? Operator skins are repeatedly criticized
Is the ghillie suit OP? The fact is that a ghillie suit provides the best camouflage when you move in the corresponding environment. In fact, it is much more difficult to spot enemy players with a ghillie suit when they are hiding in bushes or tall grass.
However, a ghillie suit can also be hindering, as a large part of the current Warzone map Al Mazrah consists of desert and barren areas. Other parts of the map consist of urban areas ranging from small settlements and houses to a modern metropolis.
A ghillie suit looks out of place in these areas, after all, you stand out significantly from your environment. So we can reassure you, the ghillie suit is not a new “Roze skin”. But it can be very powerful with the right tactics.
More about CoD: Warzone 2 on MeinMMO:
Is the ghillie suit Pay2Win? This question is a bit harder to answer. The community complains that the only way to obtain a ghillie suit is through the in-game shop.
There are several bundles available there, which include one of the coveted operator skins. A few months ago, there was also the possibility of obtaining a ghillie suit through a promo campaign. However, that promotion has since ended. Similarly, the Burger Town skin was traded for a lot of money on eBay.
Although you can only obtain the ghillie suit through the in-game shop, its usefulness is limited. Consequently, the fuss isn’t quite as big as it was back when the “Roze skin” was introduced.
Nonetheless, there is still hope that the developers will provide a way to obtain a ghillie suit without requiring players to spend extra money. Maybe it will happen as early as Season 2.
