A bug in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 frustrates the Battle Royale players, as they are prompted to buy Modern Warfare 2 to be able to play.
What kind of bug is this? As some Warzone 2 players report on reddit, they cannot play matches of the shooter due to a bug. When attempting to join a new round, they reportedly received a message prompting them to purchase Modern Warfare 2.
CoD Warzone 2 is free-to-play and playable independently from MW2.
A reddit post by user Unf0cused received only 180 upvotes and 95 comments, but many affected players repeatedly report the problem on reddit. In the post, the player states that he was able to play about 6 matches before the error occurred for the first time. After that, the bug prevented him from continuing to play.
In the comments of the reddit post, players also mention that the bug occurs for owners of Modern Warfare 2 as well (via reddit).
Workaround should help
Is there a solution for the bug? Currently, there is no patch from the developers that fixes the error. The online magazine Dexerto reports, however, of a workaround that seems to have worked for some players:
- If you play with friends, the error can be bypassed by inviting someone to the lobby where the error does not occur.
This workaround apparently does not work for solo players. They can only try to help themselves by restarting the game, their PC/console, or their internet connection. You should also make sure that you have the latest version of Warzone 2 installed.
