Call of Duty: Warzone 2 celebrated its release and players are discovering the new content of the matches on the “Al Mazrah” map. However, a small feature is currently causing criticism among some fans.
The release of CoD Warzone 2 has happened, but it came with a few issues. The release night of the “second version” of the CoD battle royale started with connection difficulties and lags that marred the launch.
Meanwhile, more and more players are getting in and exchanging thoughts on the new content.
While features like the new proximity chat have been received really well, a small feature in the CODWarzone subreddit is drawing criticism: the pings for orientation on the map.
User interface in Warzone 2 receives criticism – players miss the overview
A user in the Warzone subreddit shared a screenshot of the map from the game, showing pings that can be used to alert teammates to various things or distribute waypoints.
The user asks: Why did we lose colored pings in Warzone? He shows a picture of the currently white pings and a version where the markings were colored for better visibility.
A small feature really, but the post received quite a bit of attention with over 2,200 upvotes and more than 240 comments. In the comments, players are discussing the user interface in Warzone 2.
- “Who even asked for this? I’ve never heard anyone complain about the ping artwork,” a user wonders about the change (via reddit).
- “Seriously, it’s so damn hard to see where my points are. I don’t understand the UX decisions in this game at all,” another agrees (via reddit).
- “Not just the colors, but also the sound effects and the ability to see what someone just tapped on the map and where it is in relation to where you currently are. I hope they improve that” (via reddit).
- “Yeah, when my teammate pinged, it took me a few seconds to see where” (via reddit).
- “As a colorblind person, this is annoying. It’s really hard to distinguish things,” says user crozzy 89 (via reddit).
Some users criticize that apparently some things were changed compared to the predecessor without necessity – such as the pings. It is criticized that orientation in the new part seems more difficult and symbols are harder to distinguish than they were in Warzone 1. Some would have preferred fewer innovations.

Otherwise, it might be worth looking for secrets on the new map: On the “Al Mazrah” map, for example, there is hidden loot in the water.
