The multiplayer mode of Call of Duty: Vanguard has been introduced – including a new trailer. What’s in it, you can find out here.
What’s happening with CoD: Vanguard? Today, on September 7, 2021, the reveal of the multiplayer mode for CoD: Vanguard took place. Many features and contents were showcased that you can expect in the multiplayer mode of the upcoming shooter.
To get you into the mode, a new trailer has also been released. It shows plenty of multiplayer action, including from the player’s perspective.

This is what’s in the trailer: The trailer starts with a short montage of sustained fire, flamethrowers, and close combat scenes. Shortly after, a Samurai is shown – including a katana. A tank explodes, someone gets shot, and a soldier blows up a truck with a grenade. As the soldier turns away, the thing flies flaming into the air. Clearly – cool guys don’t need to watch explosions.
The trailer immediately focuses on action. Then it continues from a first-person perspective. Various weapons, such as assault rifles, shotguns, and miniguns are used here. Notably: Something is constantly breaking.
First, the minigun tears apart a stone wall, then the shotgun shatters a kind of trapdoor to clear the way down. Shortly after, a player also shatters a glass pane so that his colleague can throw a grenade right after. It gets similarly wild in narrow alleys, where battles for survival are fought in very tight spaces.
The destruction does not come without reason: Because besides “20 maps,” the trailer specifically talks about “tactical destruction” and shows again someone smashing a pane just to create a better line of sight.
- Afterwards, “next-level customization” is announced, showing how extensively you can customize your weapons.
- “Global operators” are mentioned – among them are also the samurai and the colleague with the flamethrower.
- Lastly, it refers to the open beta. Early access is available if you pre-order the game.

How the trailer is received: Shortly after the release of the trailer, the first feedback came in. In terms of likes, the video for the multiplayer mode garnered over 10,000 likes against about 1,200 dislikes.
Even better is the complete reveal video, which showcases the features of the mode in detail. Here, there are currently over 23,000 likes against about 1,600 dislikes (as of September 7, 2021, 20:20).
In the comments, however, the responses are quite balanced. While some are looking forward to the game, others prefer to wait until there is more to see of the game. Here, the open beta could be a welcome opportunity.
For comparison: When the multiplayer mode for CoD Cold War was released in September 2020, there were several skeptical reactions. At that time, there was criticism regarding the many vehicles that the trailer showed. There were also concerns about gameplay and scorestreaks. However, zombies were received particularly positively back then. Comparable reactions regarding the new Vanguard trailer – for now – are absent.
