If the leaks are to be believed, the reveal of the new Call of Duty 2021 could be just around the corner – perhaps again in CoD: Warzone. Now the developers are also throwing fuel on the speculation fire and distributing small teasers among content creators, apparently showing locations for a possible “CoD Vanguard”.
What is it about? August is halfway through, and so far the reveal of the new Call of Duty 2021 is still awaited. As in 2020, the developers are taking their time with the unveiling of the latest CoD, but things are slowly starting to happen.
Over the weekend, 4 teasers for the new Call of Duty have surfaced, emphasizing the “World War II” setting and hinting at potential locations for the latest CoD, which is likely called “Vanguard”. MeinMMO brings you the 4 clips.
Teaser 1 – The Western Front
The first clip shows the familiar image of a European forest in 5 seconds and is a clear indication of the Western Front. A sign with the German inscription “ACHTUNG” and a broken signpost reading “Merville” suggest that Vanguard has a location in France – sometime after the takeover by the German Empire. At Merville was a significant artillery battery of the Nazis, which was destroyed after the Allies landed in Normandy during Operation Tango.
Teaser 2 – The Eastern Front
In Clip number 2, it’s cooler. Russian content creators received this clip, hinting at the Eastern Front. A destroyed house is visible, possibly near a train station. As the camera pans back, it becomes clear that the viewpoint is from across the street. Then, a sniper rifle is seen with an engraved name: Petrova.
This is already the second teaser featuring a Soviet sniper. At the end of a Warzone match, you can currently see how a female sniper hinders one of your colleagues from evacuating.
Teaser 3 – Africa Front
Teaser 3 introduces the battles for Northern Africa. When the Axis powers launched their first operations in Africa, the United Kingdom feared an invasion of the British Isles by the Nazis. The main forces could therefore not be relocated, and the Brits relied on support from the Commonwealth. Troops from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and British India gathered in the Middle East to fight against the Axis. The teaser correspondingly came from Australian content creators.
Teaser 4 – Pacific Front
The latest teaser likely depicts the Pacific Front. Destroyed American planes are visible on a beach. The inscription “No Guts, No Glory” can be seen on a tattered flight jacket. In the Pacific, it is primarily the Americans fighting against Japanese troops over smaller and larger islands. Earlier, leaked images of the Ultimate Edition hinted at battles in the Pacific region.
Task Force Vanguard – Is this about the story?

Possibly, the story of the new CoD revolves around this unit, which apparently has a hand in every front. That would be an interesting scenario for the campaign, sending us as a member of the Vanguard unit to various locations of World War II.
Whether CoD 2021 is actually called Vanguard and how this unit fits into the game is currently uncertain. However, the information is becoming more concrete, and a reveal should not be long in coming.
Last year at this time, there was the reveal of Cold War – on August 20 the first teaser came, which officially confirmed the name and setting. It is quite possible that “Vanguard” will follow a similar schedule. You can find the most important information on MeinMMO.
