It’s getting serious! Call of Duty: Vanguard will release on November 5th and the preload for pre-order customers has started. You can find the release schedule, download sizes, and important information about the game on MeinMMO.
Just a few more sleeps and the new Call of Duty will hit the market: Vanguard arrives on Friday, November 5th. To get started on time, you’ll find all the information about the download and important dates surrounding the launch of Vanguard in this article.
CoD Vanguard: Preload is active
What do you need to know about the preload? You can download Vanguard before the official launch and won’t have to pull down the many gigabytes on release day. The preload is now active for everyone:
- Vanguard Preload Times
- PS4 and PS5: Preload is active
- Xbox One & Series X|S: Preload is active
- PC: Preload is active
Where can I find the preload? Check your console store and search for “Vanguard” – on the game page you can start the download. PC players can find the download in the Battle.net launcher – click on “All Games” at the top left and select Vanguard under the “Activision” tab.
Who can preload? To benefit from the preload, you must have pre-ordered Call of Duty: Vanguard. You can find all the information here:
CoD Vanguard: Download is significantly smaller than Cold War
What do you need to know about the download? It was already clear beforehand that Call of Duty has drastically reduced the required storage space at launch compared to its predecessor Cold War. Now it is also known how large the download actually is:
- PlayStation 5
- Download: 64.13 GB
- Free storage: 89.84 GB
- PlayStation 4
- Download: 54.65 GB
- Free storage: 93.12 GB
- Xbox One
- Download: 56.6 GB
- Xbox Series S|X
- Download: 61 GB
- PC
- 61 GB of storage required
Players on PlayStation know the issue: You often need significantly more free space for actually smaller downloads, and Vanguard is no exception. On PS4, you need to clear at least 94 GB of storage to start the 55 GB download.
How large the finished files will ultimately be is still uncertain.
What else do you need to know about the download? It is highly likely that there will be a “Day 1” patch that will be deployed to the servers right at launch. On Twitter, the account “PlayStation Game Size” found hints about a patch larger than 20 GB (via Twitter).
Additionally, Vanguard appears to be packed into different content packages again. You can likely load the campaign separately and reduce the download slightly.
CoD Vanguard launches at midnight on November 5th
What do you need to know about the release? Similar to the preload, Vanguard launches on consoles at a different time than on PC, and the release schedule is adjusted according to the respective countries:
- Console Release (Xbox & PlayStation): 11/5 at 12:00 AM
- PC Release: Global release 11/5 at 5:00 AM
