In our level guide to Vanguard we show you how to quickly reach max level. We provide you with information on quickly leveling up weapons and operators and how your player level increases rapidly.
What does the guide bring you? In Vanguard, there are three different types of experience points. By playing normally, you level up the types anyway, but there are tips on how to reach max levels faster.

What types of XP are there in Vanguard?
In Call of Duty: Vanguard, there are player XP, weapon XP, and operator XP. With all these experience points, you can level up in their respective category.
- Operator XP: With this, you level up the 12 playable operators. With earned XP, you unlock skins, quips, finishing moves, highlight intros, and MVP highlights.
- Weapon XP: When you play with a certain weapon, you earn XP for it. This unlocks attachments, kits, and customization options like camos, charms, stickers, and reticles. For some, you also need challenges to unlock the customizations.
- Player XP: These experience points increase your level as a player. With this, you then unlock weapons, killstreaks, field upgrades, perks, lethals, and tacticals.
Quickly earn weapon XP and level up
How to level up quickly? By using a weapon in your matches, you increase its level. In the quick search of multiplayer games in Vanguard you can set the player count in Compat Pacing. “Blitz” offers the opportunity to play with 16 to 46 players. Select Blitz to level the weapons, as there you have many targets to shoot at.
Kills in Search and Destroy provide more weapon XP than kills in Team Deathmatches, where eliminations happen fast.
There are also weapon challenges that boost your XP. Most of them you will probably complete anyway in the process.
Quickly earn operator XP and level up
Depending on which version of Vanguard you purchased, you will have unlocked more or fewer operators initially. How to unlock all operators in Vanguard and what you can level up, you can see here.
How to level up quickly? To quickly earn XP for an operator, you should tackle their respective challenges. You find the challenges by selecting an operator and then clicking the hotkey for “Bio”.
In the new window, you will find the third tab “Challenges.” Select the tab and see which challenges are currently active for you. There you will also see how many XP they provide.
In the “Bio” tab, you will also find the operator’s favorite weapon. In Polina’s case, it’s the three-line rifle.
If you play with the favorite weapon and the matching operator, you earn double operator XP and additionally more weapon XP.
When leveling up the operators, you will also find XP tokens at certain levels (check this in the bio under “Progress”). At various levels, you receive these XP tokens:
- Operator Level 3: 1,500 XP
- Operator Level 8: 2,000 XP
- Operator Level 13: 2,500 XP
- Operator Level 18: 3,000 XP
This is how you quickly level up and unlock operator customizations in Vanguard.
Quickly earn player XP and level up
You should increase your player level in Vanguard to unlock weapons, perks, and further upgrades with it.
In the main menu of multiplayer, Vanguard offers the tab “Challenges.” Tackle the challenges and work through them to earn many experience points. An example is the countermeasure challenges:
Use your XP tokens! In the battle pass, you unlock XP tokens at certain tiers that you can activate. Do this strategically and collect a lot of XP. However, keep in mind that they are only temporarily active, and you need to watch how long they last.
Join a clan. If you are part of a clan and play together with your teammates, you receive a 10% XP boost on weapon XP, operator XP, player XP, and clan XP.
Bonus for PlayStation: If you play Vanguard on PS4 or PS5, you receive various bonuses like XP boosts. There will also be monthly double XP events that are active for 24 hours. Additionally, events for 25% more weapon XP. You can take advantage of this if you play on PlayStation with your friends. These events will be announced separately.
