The CoD series is not necessarily known for its strict realism. But if reality offers cool weapon mechanics, why not try that in Call of Duty: Vanguard? That’s why you can take out enemies behind you in the new CoD with a rocket launcher.
What’s going on? The big beta test of Call of Duty: Vanguard is over, and the developers are now focusing on the release preparations. There was a lot of feedback, criticism, but also a lot of CoD soldiers excited about the latest installment of the series.
A small mechanic may have escaped many players, as you can actually take out enemies behind you with a weapon. The Panzerfaust allows for that.
Backblast of the Panzerfaust destroys enemies behind you
What does that look like? On the discussion platform Reddit, there are several clips showing nasty scenes of these “backstabbing” kills. The user “ChickenTeller” showcases 2 kills in his clip with the backblast of the rocket launcher:
Why does this work? When you fire a rocket from the Panzerfaust, the launch also causes damage behind you. This is also true for real-world rocket launchers.
Some designs allow, for example, the exhaust emissions of the fired rocket to escape from the rear, and if someone is in the backblast area, it can lead to serious injuries. Check out Wikipedia to see how strong a backblast can be (via Wikipedia).
Call of Duty turns this into a one-hit for enemies behind you. The player “ChickenTeller” throws a stun grenade towards the enemy before his nasty backblast actions to minimize the enemy’s resistance. After that, “Chicken” runs towards the enemy, spins in the opposite direction, and fires the rocket into the sky or the ceiling.
What do players say about it? In the thread to the clip, the mood is good, and most commentators are pleased with the new mechanic in the game or celebrate the video. Here are a few comments from the thread:
- Ill_Friendship2886: “It seems to me that this will take out a lot of teammates in hardcore mode. lol”
- DoteeJayX2: “Wow. I feel so bad that I wasted my time in the beta. I never really gave Vanguard a chance to be fun. This way, I could have had 180 kills!”
- jahchatelier: “That would be a camo challenge with a lot of fun – he said sarcastically.”
What’s next for Vanguard? The major public test phases are over, and the release is already on the horizon. On November 5th, the World War shooter will launch, ushering in the new CoD generation. The Battle Royale Warzone will also receive many changes with the Vanguard release – including a new map, fresh engine, and an anti-cheat system.
The first season of Vanguard is expected to start at the end of November or early December. Current speculation suggests that the Season 1 adjustments to Warzone will come as well. These were announced by the developers for “shortly after the Vanguard release” – but a specific date is still missing.
