Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the Battle Royale mode Warzone have received a new update for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The patch from April 14th changes the playlist, brings back a popular mode from the past, and replaces Trios in Warzone.
What do the patch notes reveal about the update? Today’s update from April 14, 2020, brings a new playlist along with several bug fixes. In total, there are 5 changes to the multiplayer modes and Warzone:
- Multiplayer
- Drop Zone comes as a hardcore and softcore mode, replacing Deathmatch Domination
- 10v10 playlist “Lagerkoller” comes with Cranked, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Hardpoint
- The hardcore version of “Lagerkoller” has “Team Deathmatch” instead of “Hardpoint” in the rotation
- The Night Mode Moshpit has been removed
- Warzone
- “Snipers and Shotguns” is a trio mode where only sniper rifles and shotguns are available. It replaces the trio mode.

New Modes in the Playlist
What is Drop Zone? Drop Zone is a mode that was originally introduced in one of the predecessors, Modern Warfare 3. In this mode, there are no killstreaks as in normal modes, but rather dropped supply packages.
These are fiercely contested, as both teams try to reach and secure the crate. Points are earned for standing in the eponymous “Drop Zone.”
The mode has been in the game several times, first during Christmas 2019, and players have generally liked it. It provides more action and a different tactic than most modes.
What about the Trio Mode? After there was a lot of frustration that the developers removed the Trio mode from Warzone, it was reintroduced on April 10. However, only for a short time, as it has already been replaced by the new variation “Snipers and Shotguns.”
This new mode is still designed for teams of three players, but with the limitation that only certain weapon types can be used. This, however, has the advantage that these weapons can be leveled up particularly quickly in the new mode – thanks to another event running over the weekend.
