The famous Call of Duty pro and multiple world champion Damon “Karma” Barlow ends his career. He says that he simply hadn’t had fun in Modern Warfare anymore and will not return.
This is Karma: The pro has been in the business for a long time and has been crowned World Champion three times. He has been around since 2006 and played all CoD titles, but now he is calling it quits.
He cites his lack of motivation in Modern Warfare as the reason. He says that he is simply bad and prays for all the pros who are still stuck in this nightmare.
“Honestly, I am quite bad”
This is what he says about his departure: Karma speaks out on Twitter with 3 tweets explaining his exit. He says that it was something he had wanted to do for a long time. The game was not made for him and running around with the MP5 is not fun for him.
He says: “To be honest, I was quite bad and I think they are better off without me.”
After that, Karma emphasizes that he will not come back. He would play the new CoDs for a month and then lose interest again.
Finally, he wrote: “I pray for all of you who are stuck in this nightmare until the new installment. I have been playing since CoD 3 (2006) and have never seen anything like this!”
What does he criticize? In his tweet, he mentions the MP5 as the only reason. It belongs to the best weapons in Modern Warfare and gives the competitive game quite a run-and-gun character.
Although he did not mention other reasons in his tweet, he had previously criticized the new shooter repeatedly. He stated that Modern Warfare has “the worst spawn system” he has ever played.
Otherwise, he had little good to say about Modern Warfare lately. In mid-May, for example, he said: “The game is such a damn piece of s***” and criticized the poor connection quality. For the first two months, there were no problems and suddenly he struggled with lags.
This is particularly true for pros: While many “regular” players see the shooter more as a hobby, for Karma it is a tough job. Pros spend most of their day in the game training.
Minor changes that do not have huge impacts on us are often big problems for pros. This brings stress and affects their health.
The famous LoL player Uzi is also quitting at just 23 and ending his pro career. His body can no longer keep up and his health has suffered. Karma has been in the business for 14 years now – he must have endured a lot of stress as well.
