Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has just launched and you can finally play all game modes since this morning. This also means that you can level up your new in-game weapons. To help you progress quickly, we have 7 tips for you.
Why should you level up your weapons? The higher the level of your weapon, the more powerful it is.
You can unlock new attachments that enhance your favorite firearm. A few examples: With a scope, you can hit distant enemies more effectively. A silencer reduces the noise of your weapon, making it harder for enemies to find you.
You can attach the new components in the revamped Gunsmith mode for CoD MW3 before you head into the next match stronger.
By the way, here are our top 5 weapons and their best upgrades:
What are the prerequisites for leveling weapons? Basically, you need to have the weapon you want to level with you at all times. Unfortunately, weapon levels are not shared across different weapons; they are specific to individual weapons.
While you play, you generally earn some passive experience points for carried weapons. However, if you want to speed things up, we recommend the following tips.
Here are 7 tips for faster weapon leveling
1. Use the weapon you want to level often
This may sound obvious, but yes: Use the weapon you want to level as often as possible. This way, that weapon receives the accumulated experience points, and you will get better at using it with each match.
Knowing how to handle your weapon is important because headshots give you more XP. So you should practice a lot in hitting your opponents’ heads with your desired weapon.
2. Complete the attachment challenges
Each weapon has its own attachment challenges, as shown in the picture below. When you fulfill these, new attachments unlock that facilitate playing and leveling with the weapon as described above.
3. Complete the weapon-specific challenges
CoD MW3 also presents weapon-specific challenges that you can complete. For example, you may need to achieve a certain number of headshots within a specific time frame – with a particular weapon type. Or you need to get five double kills.
Every weapon challenge you complete gives you experience for that weapon type. So check what is required for your weapon type and work specifically towards that.
4. Complete the daily challenges related to weapons
In the CoD MW3 lobby, you will find three new challenges each day. These don’t always have to be weapon-related, but there is a chance they will be.
So keep an eye on what the game demands daily and work through what makes sense for you.
5. Use the double XP tokens
In the game, you can earn so-called prestige tokens or may have brought them from the predecessor CoD MW2 (GameStar). The double XP tokens are the most important for leveling weapons. When you activate one, you will receive double experience for your weapons over the next two hours.
A well-known way to earn prestige tokens is to complete campaign missions.
6. Participate in events for double XP
Some events in CoD MW3 give you double experience points for weapons, similar to the double XP tokens. Keep an eye out for those.
7. Try certain game modes
The different game modes grant you varying amounts of experience. Currently, you can get the most from Ground War
:
The more people participate and the more time you have, the more experience points per round you can earn. In Ground War, 64 players face off in two teams. This is the largest number of players that the game currently offers.
If you are quick, you can also secure some XP through the Dominance
mode on the Quarry map:
A map in CoD MW3 is so bugged that each round ends after seconds
