Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 had a rough start despite a large PR effort, and the multiplayer does not provide a better picture of the shooter. Players are disappointed and are therefore raining down bad reviews on Metacritic.
What is happening on Metacritic? Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 had its multiplayer and zombie mode release on November 10. Players could finally start grinding for their weapons and ranks and no longer had to settle for the absurd campaign.
Despite this, the mood around the controversial shooter did not improve. Players have a clear opinion about MW3, and it not only is bad, but it shows that the shooter is the worst title in the CoD series. The game is even worse than the disastrous vampire shooter “Redfall”.

CoD MW3 is the worst CoD ever
This is how MW3 ranks in the ratings: For early access, players could not leave an accurate rating for the shooter, but since the multiplayer was unlocked, many opinions regarding the new game from Activision have come in.
The score on Metacritic was 50 (as of November 13, 10:50 AM), positioning the shooter as the worst installment in the series. We have listed all CoD titles with their scores on Metacritic:

- Modern Warfare II (2022) – 75 points
- Vanguard – 73 points
- Black Ops Cold War – 76 points
- Modern Warfare (2019) – 80 points

- World at War – 84 points
- Modern Warfare – 94 points
- Call of Duty 3 – 82 points
- Call of Duty 2 – 89 points
- Call of Duty – 91 points
The interesting thing here is also the comparison with Bethesda’s disastrous vampire game, Redfall. The game resembled a nightmare, and despite receiving many bad reviews, Redfall, with its 56 points on Metacritic, is better than MW3.
Why is MW3 so bad? New insights bring clarity to the release of MW3. According to an insider report, it was explained that the title was only in development for 16 months before it was offered to fans for purchase. In addition, players complained about the following issues with the title:
- The game offers far too few contents for its price (70 €)
- The story is far too short, with 3-4 hours of gameplay
- The zombie mode is a mix of DMZ and zombies and does not feel new
- PvP only excites through the re-release of iconic maps and QoL changes that could have also been included in a patch for MW2
It is the bad aftertaste that players feel when thinking about spending so much money on a game for things that normally would have fit into a DLC. Therefore, the price should have been reduced by half, but for 70 €, it is too much money for too little content for many players.
