With Season 2 Reloaded in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the map “The House” has entered the game, which many will remember from CoD: Vanguard. However, players find one feature on the map even worse than it was back then.
The small maps promise the fastest action in Call of Duty’s multiplayer. “The House” came with its own playlist in Call of Duty: Vanguard and has also made its way into MW3 with the Season 2 Reloaded update.
What kind of map is it? The House is one of the smaller maps that first appeared in CoD: Vanguard and is now available in MW3 in an updated form. The House is now located at the top of a skyscraper near Highrise. According to callofduty.com, you can see the map from a distance from one spawn.
The developers also write in their post that the layout is “as chaotic as you remember, and it rewards operators who stay on the offensive and do not relent.”

On Reddit, the community is not that enthusiastic about the “new” map. While some praise the layout, players state there that the spawns are pure chaos.
“The spawns make the map unplayable”
What bothers the players? On Reddit, the user “MyCoDAccount” writes on March 9: “The House is bad.” In his post, he elaborates his thoughts as follows:
The layout is okay. The spawns make [the map] unplayable. Why should you even move? You spawn, sit there, and enemies appear right in front of you. There is simply no incentive to treat it like a normal map. The one who moves dies. How could they have tested this and thought it was acceptable?
In another post in the MW3 Subreddit, “chowder908” writes on March 8: “Honestly, how can they make the spawns for The House worse than they were in Vanguard?”
He adds in the post that the spawns in the Vanguard version of The House “were sometimes not so great, but there was still a flow.” Now there is a spawn flip, and next you get killed in the spawn.
“It’s the revenge spawns that throw everything off”
What does the community say? On Reddit, some players express their thoughts about the map in MW3. Many seem to share the impression of chaotic spawns, while others draw comparisons to other maps. Below, we summarize a few comments:
- Office_Worker808 writes on Reddit: “I spawned with three enemy players at the same time. And yes, I just died on the spot.”
- Someone replies: “Yeah, it happens to me all the time. Once I spawned behind three enemies and immediately got a triple kill. […] The spawns are bad on all small maps.”
- bugistuta comments in the same post: “The revenge spawn system is also wild, I can kill an enemy, he spawns and chases me before I can reload.”
- iWant12Tacos writes in the comment: “You could apply this to almost any map. The spawns are among the worst I’ve seen in any game.”
- Haethos says: “The spawns are so bad that if you sit in a corner, three guys spawn behind you lol.”
- NecarisOmnis writes: “It’s the revenge spawns that throw everything off. In Vanguard, [this] did NOT exist. It causes the spawn points to switch like crazy, as a player spawns on the enemy side and the team then follows.”
In another post on Reddit, several users note that the spawns in Vanguard were the same. And “GrandDetour” mentions, “people want small maps, but then complain about the spawns when 12 people are running around on a tiny map.” Others write that they have fun on “The House.”
Are there other opinions? Some players note in the posts that small maps are particularly good for completing tasks. For example, you can perfectly accomplish the task “Kills from behind” on The House. Others point out that the small maps are generally good for leveling weapons – especially during double XP days.
