In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 you can expect 20 maps in multiplayer at release. You can find all maps in 2023 and their names here in the overview on MeinMMO.
How many maps will there be in CoD MW 3? Activision has commented on the maps in CoD MW3 and clarified in their blog post that you will have 20 maps available for multiplayer at launch:

- Afghan
- Derail
- Estate
- Favela
- Highrise
- Invasion
- Karachi
- Quarry
- Rundown
- Rust
- Scrapyard
- Skidrow
- Sub Base
- Terminal
- Underpass
- Wasteland
- Battle Maps
- Levin Resort
- Orlov Military Base
- Popov Power
- Operation Spearhead
The majority of these maps are reskins of once iconic battlefields that players should still remember from the predecessors of MW2 and MW3. Familiar locations like Rust or Terminal are thus making their way back into the CoD community with improved graphics.

Will new maps be added? Activision itself stated in its blog post that many well-known maps from Modern Warfare 2 such as Farm 18, Mercado, and Shoot House will make it into Modern Warfare 3. These will also be reskins of the maps that will be offered in special playlists for players, depending on which season is currently active.
Further old favorites are expected to return, but which ones they are is not yet known. It is also not known whether Activision is working on brand new maps and will release them in the upcoming seasons.
