What happens with balancing/gameplay? In Warzone and CoD MW2, the developers plan significant adjustments to the audio system – particularly in multiplayer, there was a lot of criticism.
Now, the responsible parties explain that an old system was still in use that did not meet their standards. However, they are now ready to implement the new occlusion system.
Furthermore, there will be adjustments to the perk system. Bonus perks only require 50% of the requirements, and ultimate perks can be unlocked 25% faster.
Weapon balancing has also been announced. It still remains to be seen how this will work in the future together with Warzone – as the weapons of the two games sometimes have different values.
CoD Warzone 2: Season 2 – Ashika Island, Content & Balancing
What does Season 2 bring for Warzone 2? The highlight is the new small map Ashika Island. Here are the announcements for the launch of Season 2:
- Ashika Island
- A new small map for Warzone for the Battle Royale and Resurgence modes
- Resurgence mode
- As long as a player on the team is still alive, team members return until a certain point in the match
- Available for all team sizes, but apparently not all will be online at the same time
- “Restore Honor” mechanic
- On Ashika Island, fallen enemies leave a dog tag – brings cash and a UAV ping (boxes & enemies)
- New NPC – Rusher
- On Ashika, you will meet a new NPC enemy who specializes in close combat and rushes towards you
- New vehicle
- A jetski will be available to you in Season 2 for water adventures
- Changes to Al Mazrah
- The POI modeled after the map “Afghan” will get a suitable airplane
- DMZ
- Ashika Island as a location
- New NPC boss (Bombmaker)
- New weapon crates with permanent rewards
- Progress reset and new missions
- New DMZ faction
- The “Crown Fraction” gives you new missions but is only available to buyers of CoD MW2
The progress reset in the DMZ is not necessarily well received by all players. However, the developers have confirmed that unlocked “insured weapon slots” will remain.
More than 50 images can be found in an extra article about Ashika Island. However, the following images and the first teaser also give you a good impression.

Short teaser:
The map is supposed to be visible from Al Mazrah already:

What will come later? Announcements for Warzone 2 also include in-season:
- In-Match Event “Data Heist”
- Search for data nodes on Ashika Island, hack them and grab powerful items
- Contract “Search & Seizure”
- A vehicle on the map is marked and guarded by NPCs. Obtain the keys, steal the vehicle and take it to the destination
- Redeploy Drone
- Devices on the map that you can use to pull yourself up – they change their location partially and cannot be re-bought as in Warzone 1
- Warzone statistics
- An announcement remains vague about when the statistics will be available – but it is certain that only values will be collected that arise after the introduction
What happens with balancing/gameplay? Warzone is going back a bit and making adjustments that make the Battle Royale more like Warzone 1:
- Gulag back to 1vs1 with flag at the end
- Loot drops from enemies or boxes on the ground
- Loadout drops twice in the match (1st and 5th gas circle)
- Everyone has 3 armor plates
- Everyone has the same backpack
- Every buy station offers loadout drops
Additionally, customizable perk packages will be introduced into Battle Royale. Not all perks from multiplayer will be available directly, but gradually more passive bonuses are expected to become available.
Cash will also be adjusted. Normal and legendary loot boxes will not contain cash anymore. Instead, you will find more cash in cash registers or other containers.
There should be more cash in the Gulag as well – on the ground and as a win reward. Overall, the loot in the Gulag is being improved, and the longer a match lasts, the better equipped players who return from the Gulag should be. The era of shotguns and pistols in the Gulag is over.
In DMZ mode, spawn points will be reworked, and adjustments will also be made to the NPCs’ balancing.
CoD MW2 & Warzone 2: Season 2 – Battle Pass / Weapons
When does the Battle Pass start? Along with Season 2 on February 15. Until then, you can continue to play the Season 1 pass fully.
What is the Battle Pass?
You exchange playing time for exclusive cosmetics that are only available through the respective Battle Pass of a season. The pass costs 1,100 CoD Points (around €10) and allows you to earn over 100 items, including cosmetics, as well as XP tokens or CoD Points.
There are also a few free tiers that all players can unlock – including the new weapons. But most tiers are behind the paywall of 1,100 CoD Points.
However, the system has also gone through a few changes, which we will explain in more detail here: The Battle Pass for CoD MW2 & Warzone 2 is now a map – with more choices and more CoD Points.
What’s in the Battle Pass? Each Battle Pass offers you different items. However, we list an overview of the types of items that can be included in the pass:
- 2 new weapons for Warzone / CoD MW2
- New operator
- Legendary rewards upon completion of the pass
- Many operator skins with missions for even more skins
- Cosmetics like calling cards, emblems, sprays, and charms
- Vehicle items like battle songs or skins
- XP tokens for an experience points boost
- 10% experience boost on the Battle Pass
- 1,400 CoD Points
As soon as the specific items are known, you will find more information about them here on MeinMMO.
Who will be the poster boy / poster girl of Season 2? Each season comes with a theme and a unique operator that drives the story forward. This time it is Ronin, who was already featured in CoD MW 2019 and is based on the YouTuber Tu Lam.
What new weapons will be added? A total of five new weapons will be introduced during Season 2:
- Assault Rifle: ISO Hemlock
- Shotgun: KV Broadsite
- DMR: Crossbow
- Melee: Dual Kodachis
- DMR: Tempus Torrent
The assault rifle and shotgun will be part of the Battle Pass.
