What are executions? Executions or finishers are specially animated attacks that allow you to take out opponents with the press of a button. The camera switches to a third-person perspective, and then you will see an animated sequence.

Properly Using Executions
How do you perform an execution? To execute such a finishing move, you need to be behind your opponent.
- Press and hold the button for the melee attack.
- On the PlayStation, this is typically “R3” or “Circle”; on the Xbox, it’s “RS” or “B”. On PC, it’s the “V” key.
- Your operator will then perform an execution.
What sounds simple can turn out to be difficult in the game. You need to sneak up behind an opponent without being detected. If the enemy spots you before you can execute the move, you will likely catch a bullet.

Increasing Chances for Executions
How do I land more executions? However, if you pay attention to a few things, executing finishing moves isn’t that hard.
First, you should adjust your loadout, as some perks and weapons can help you. By combining these elements, you can drastically increase your chances of executing an execution.
- Pistol or knife as secondary weapon
- Equipping these weapons allows you to move faster. This way, you can navigate the map quicker and position yourself behind opponents. A knife also lets you neutralize an opponent quickly if your execution fails.
- Flashbangs and stun grenades
- These tactical items can help you prepare for an execution. Blind or stun an opponent, and then sneak up on them from behind.
- Throwing knife
- As lethal equipment, you should carry the throwing knife. A hit with the throwing knife is enough to take out an opponent, which can save your life if your attempt fails.
- Ghost and Cold-Blooded Perk
- These perks make you invisible to enemy UAVs or killstreaks. Thermal sights will only show your operator as a gray outline. You can navigate the map unseen this way.
- Dead Silence Field Equipment
- Makes you invisible to UAVs for a limited time and additionally allows you to move faster than normal.
How can you unlock executions? Previously, executions had different rarity levels and were bound to operators.
If you wanted to use a particularly elaborate execution, you often had to go through the shop. The most spectacular finishing moves could mostly only be acquired as part of operator bundles.
In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, however, all executions can be performed by all operators. During Season 1 / 2022, there are around 32 different executions.
Most of them are tied to unlocking an operator. It is very likely that more executions will be implemented with future seasons.
Can executions also be used in WZ2 & DMZ? Yes! You can also use executions in Warzone and in DMZ.
The mechanics work just like in multiplayer. However, keep in mind that you become easy prey for other opponents while performing a finishing move.
While it is considerably easier to perform an execution on an opponent who is already on the ground, you should still watch out not to be targeted by their teammates.
