Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 offers a wide range of weapons that players can unlock and use in combat. However, one of them has particularly caught the soldiers’ attention. The MP5 variant from MW2 – Lachmann-MP. We show you how to get it and which setup suits it.
How do I unlock the MP5? The infamous MP5 also exists in MW2, but it is known there under the name “Lachmann-MP”.
It cannot be unlocked at the very beginning but must be unlocked at the Gunsmith 2.0 via the “Lachmann & Meer platform”. To get a better overview of its unlock requirements, you can proceed as follows:
- Go to your weapons in the menu
- Select a loadout and then go to your primary weapon
- Press “Switch” and select the category assault rifles
- There is the “Lachmann-762”, now click on the corresponding platform
- You should then see a detailed representation of the necessary unlocks.
To unlock the MP5, you need to reach rank 16 with your account level. Only then will you gain access to the Lachmann-762 – a semi-automatic assault rifle.
If you have obtained the assault rifle from the Lachmann factory, you need to level the 762 model to level 13. Then you unlock the Lachmann-556 – an assault rifle. The 556 model must then be leveled to level 12. Once that is done, the Lachmann-MP will be automatically unlocked.

Why is the MP5 so good? This submachine gun has already proven itself as a versatile weapon in many CoD installments. With the right attachments, you benefit not only from a relatively large range but also solid stability and a high rate of fire with decent “Time to Kill” values.
Compared to the beta of MW2, the Lachmann-MP was considered the best weapon, but the submachine gun doesn’t seem to play at the top – it is a solid and strong choice.
This was our short guide to the MP5 or Lachmann-MP from MW2. What do you think of this MP in the new CoD installment? Can it hold its own on the battlefield? Let us know in the comments!
