In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 there are countless attachments and tons of scopes for your weapons. But not every attachment is good for your firearms. This is especially noticeable with a really bad thermal scope.
With Modern Warfare 2, the gunsmith from Call of Duty has been fundamentally overhauled. The whole system has been revamped and has a new design.
Basically, you have to level individual weapons less and you have direct access to attachments for weapons that you haven’t even played yet. However, you may have to play weapon classes for certain attachments and weapons that you are not interested in.
At least one scope you can completely ignore. If possible, you should leave the unlocking as it is, and that part can rot in the arsenal forever. Because it is so bad that it can be called the worst scope in CoD history.
For a deeper insight into the new gunsmith, we link you here to the English trailer for the new CoD feature:
CoD MW2 & Warzone 2: Stay away from the “SZ Holotherm”
Is the scope really that bad? Worse. For automatic weapons, the “SZ Holotherm” is unusable. Especially when you rely on silencers, you see almost nothing after the first shot. Silencers increase gas output in CoD MW2 and Warzone 2.
We tested it and will show you 2 pictures:
The gas that escapes from the muzzle during firing is not transparent to the scope. This results in complete visibility being disturbed during firing.
This was discovered and shared in the Subreddit of Modern Warfare 2. The thread gathered over 4,200 upvotes and 680 comments in just about 25 hours (as of 13.12.22/5:00 PM). The sarcastic title: “OP-Meta-Scope – This needs to be patched immediately!”.
What do players say about it? Since players are not forced to use the scope, the mood in the thread is very lively. Many commentators are having fun, and interesting conversations are developing.
Thus, the comment with the most upvotes leads to discussions about how games were perceived as a child. That you sometimes spent hours in stores that had consoles to test in the gaming department.
User “wittiestphrase” gathered 1,900 upvotes with: “It looks like you’re playing on a Virtual Boy.” The Virtual Boy was one of the first attempts at VR technology and was released by Nintendo in 1995.
The response from user “antikythera3301” is also well received: “Only kids of the 80s who lived through the 90s, testing it in a blockbuster store, will understand this joke.” After that, many other users reminisce about their cozy gaming memories from childhood.
At least there is one or two topic-related replies. It explains to “FauxReignNew” that thermal scopes are more suited for single-shot rifles. Here the gas output is offset and dissipated by the time the next shot comes up.
User “Yager47” has another tip that was even rewarded with 1,000 upvotes: “Thermal scopes are noob traps” – they seem tempting to beginners, but usage should be well considered.
Have you also discovered an attachment that ruins your weapons? Or are there attachments that you would recommend to everyone? Leave us a comment on the topic.
Once a weapon reaches max level, weapon tuning will be available to you. Here, too, you should not proceed thoughtlessly: CoD MW2 & Warzone 2: Be careful with weapon tuning – don’t ruin your weapon setups
