In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the M4 is one of the best weapons. Therefore, we show you an M4 setup from former world champion “Clayster” and the necessary attachments in the loadout.
What kind of setup is this? This setup revolves around the starter assault rifle “M4,” which all players are handed at the beginning.
However, the thing is not just a stopgap because there is nothing else available at the start. In fact, shortly after its release, the M4 even counts among the best weapons in Modern Warfare 2.
To know which attachments you can work towards, we have selected a setup designed by former CoD world champion “Clayster”.
CoD MW2: M4 Setup from the Pro
What does the setup look like? The setup of the pro focuses on increasing damage and range, as well as better control of recoil. The following attachments were chosen by Clayster:
- CoD MW2: M4 – Clayster Setup
- Grip: Phantom Grip
- Stock: Demo Precision Elite Factory Stock
- Laser: Schlager Peq Box IV
- Barrel: Tempus Hightower 20″
- Muzzle: Sakin Tread-40

Can I unlock the setup quickly? Since the gunsmith in MW2 has been refined and adjusted, everything works through weapon platforms and levels. You need to reach the appropriate level for different weapons to unlock the required attachments. This can take some time.
If you purchased the expensive Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 2, some suitable attachments are already available in your inventory from the start.
Pro Clayster shared several of his setups after over 12 hours of grind and continued to refine his attachment combinations.
The pro also makes it clear that this is not the “perfect” setup. Every player has their own preferences and decides for themselves in the gunsmith what works best for them. Nevertheless, this is a solid configuration that anyone can try.
We have put together an additional setup for you. You can try both and decide which suits you best:
- CoD MW2: M4 – Setup
- Muzzle: Echoline GS-X
- Barrel: Tempus Hightower 20″ Barrel
- Optic: Cronen Mini Red Dot
- Underbarrel: Operator Foregrip
- Rear Grip: Sakin ZX Grip

Tuning to your favorite weapon: Once your weapon has reached maximum level, you can perform minor tuning on your active attachments. With this “fine-tuning,” you can continue to improve and adjust your stats.
Check out Clayster’s tweet if you want to dive deeper into tuning.
Thus, the gunsmith does not hold you back after obtaining all attachments but gives you the opportunity to continue approaching your desired weapon steadily.
