A YouTuber wanted to demonstrate his skills on the controller and sparked a debate about aim assist and cheating in Call of Duty: MW2. After his video went viral, some professionals are now accusing him of being a cheater.
What happened? The YouTuber “Dynamic” released a small clip with highlights of his gameplay on Twitter. There he showcases impressive skills: on various multiplayer maps in CoD: MW2, he demonstrates incredibly precise flicks and extremely fast reflexes. He collects kill after kill.
His aim is almost superhuman. His crosshair jumps from one opponent to the next, and it seems like Dynamic has no recoil to deal with at all. He explains that he foregoes aim assist in his gameplay, but plays with extremely sensitive settings.
What’s controversial about it? Shortly after his gameplay video was released, parts of the community accused him of cheating. For other players, especially those who also play with a controller, he is a hero. They are glad that finally someone could show that controller players can keep up with mouse and keyboard.
The debate over controllers, aim assist, and mouse and keyboard is an old hat. Aim assist in CoD is a feature that helps controller players. Since aiming precisely with the controller is not as easy as with a mouse, the game helps a bit. The position of your crosshair is automatically corrected slightly when you use a controller for playing. The question of which input device is better still leads to heated discussions in the CoD community.

The cheating debate in CoD keeps flaring up
Why is the clip so controversial? After Dynamic released videos of his controller gameplay, they were picked up by Jake Lucky. The e-sport journalist shared the video on his Twitter channel.
Then the former CoD professional “Prestini” spoke up and said that the clips could not possibly be legitimate gameplay. The two-time CoD world champion “Arcitys” agreed and joked that he does not want players like Dynamic in his lobbies.
Cheats or skill? You can almost set your watch to it that every time content creators post clips of their gameplay online, their legitimacy is questioned. The YouTuber Dynamic likely anticipated that his clip could also provoke negative reactions. On his YouTube channel, there are also videos showing how he operates his controller while playing multiplayer in Call of Duty.
But even here, reactions are mixed. While his fans celebrate him and call him the “Greatest of all Time,” other viewers question the authenticity of the footage. The footage showing how Dynamic operates his controller is said not to match the gameplay.
