In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the realism mode is set to return as a permanent playlist. This establishes a new set of rules permanently in the CoD rotation.
What is the realism mode? Modes with realism rules have been cycling through the playlist since the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. There was even a “realistic” variant for a few days in the Battle Royale Warzone.
The realistic modes differ from the normal games not as much as the hardcore mode. However, you must do without HUD or mini-map here, which greatly reduces the amount of information. Thus, you have to rely more on your skills to spot nearby enemies without these aids.
The realism modes are said to now also be permanently selectable and may establish themselves long-term as a new match rule set, even for future CoDs.
Developer wants a permanent playlist
This has now been said: On Twitter, Joe Cecot, Co-Design Director at Infinity Ward, spoke with some fans about the realism mode.
There, YouTuber “Xtwo” asked whether they could keep the matches in the realism mode. It had led to some spectacular rounds and videos.
Cecot responded on Twitter with: “It is our intention to add it to the filter.” Infinity Ward wants to keep the realism modes permanently in the game, and you will then be able to select it normally in the filter, like regular or hardcore matches.
There were discussions about this: The realism mode was available for some time in the Battle Royale Warzone and led to discussions there. The mode was added only because the quad mode was removed at the same time. The normal mode, where you could play with 4 players, was briefly removed. After much criticism, the quad mode returned.
In Modern Warfare itself, the realism mode could easily be integrated. Whether another mode would be kicked out for this is unclear.
Otherwise, there has been a small playlist update in the shooter recently. This now allows you to start parties in the “Everything or Nothing” mode. The update is already live, and you can start the “Survival Mode” with your friends.
