Big Update 1.20 on April 29 – Huge Download for PS4, Xbox and PC
How is the update going today? The update went live at 8 AM this morning, April 29, and was about 30 GB on PC. On consoles, the patch is significantly smaller at 10 GB, but console players still need to download the “Data Pack 1”.
If you want to start the multiplayer, Spec Ops, or the campaign, you need the “Data Pack 1” with an additional 15 GB (on PS4 it’s even more than 18 GB). As soon as you want to play one of these modes after the patch, CoD redirects you to an “Installation Menu”, from which you must load the “Data Pack 1”. Once the pack is finished, you just need to restart CoD.
You do not need the “Data Pack 1” for Warzone. F2P players can skip the download.
What does the playlist look like now? The duo mode required in Warzone is also not included in the playlist with update 1.20. In fact, everything in Warzone remains the same. However, there are two completely new gunfight concepts entering the playlist, plus the popular modes “Shoot the Ship” and “Reinfected Ground War”.
Warzone Playlist
- Solos
- BR Trios
- BR Quads
- Plunder Trio
Modern Warfare Playlist
- Blueprint Gunfight – Gunfight with blueprint weapons
- Reinfected Ground War – Ground war with “Infected” rules
- 3v3 Cranked Gunfight – Crazy gunfight with anti-camper rules
- Shoot the Ship 24/7 – Moshpit on small maps with Grind and Cranked
Comprehensive Patch Notes for Update 1.20
Call of Duty has put together a hefty patch package this time. Here are the most important changes from patch 1.20:
General adjustments

- Removed exploit on Hackney Yard in “Infected” rounds
- Fixed some “Out of Bounds” exploits
- Controller players can now set a “Deadzone” for their sticks
Weapon fixes
- The challenges for the SKS no longer grant skins for the Renetti, the new weapons of season 3 apparently felt connected
- SKS unlocks were not working properly
- Fixed an issue where Alex’s “Hard Wired” skin would be visible with thermal sights despite being “Cold-Blooded”.

Warzone changes
- XP tokens are now displayed correctly
- Revived teammates sometimes returned incorrectly to the game and could not interact with loadout drops, for example
- Adjusted speed and size of the gas circle
- Trucks are back in solos – but slower, with less acceleration and a larger turning radius
- Scoreboard is now visible in the pause menu
- New item “Armor Satchel” allows you to carry 8 plates
- Plunder rating – After a plunder match, you now receive special “coins” that are worth more the more cash you have at the end.
PC
- Players with a Vega64 GPU experienced increased graphics bugs
- CoD could crash on starting the Spec Ops mission “Crosswind” with a GeForce 900 Series.
What else is there to know? The list here is a selection of the most important changes but leaves out some details. But now you already have a good overview. In addition, there are also a handful of changes in the co-op mode Spec Ops, which are partly very specific and fix issues in certain situations.
You can find the complete patch notes on a website by Infinity Ward.
The changes from 1.20 are very extensive and particularly the new skin options are likely to be well received. Less well received by some players were the many cheater bans. There are players claiming they were banned unfairly and are now demanding answers from the developers via petition.
