Call of Duty has received its playlist update and shows you a preview for the coming week. Modern Warfare will feature 2 modes that are brand new to the game. In the Warzone, everything stays the same.
Update – 8:05 PM: The update is now live. According to the developers’ post on Twitter, the following modes have been added or removed:
Modern Warfare
- Ground War on Foot
- Search & Rescue
- SpecOps: Brimstone (Modified)
- Ground War Reinforcement (not listed, but in the game)
Warzone
- Blood Money Quad
- Cash Drop 4-Player removed
The two new modes are Search & Rescue and Ground War Reinforcement. Search & Rescue is a mix between Kill Confirmed and Search & Destroy. Ground War Reinforcement is a variation of Domination.
Original announcement – What’s going on with CoD? Last week, the “Season 5 Reloaded” update brought some new content into the game and a new LMG has been firing across the battlefields of Call of Duty since then.
To keep Modern Warfare & Warzone exciting alongside content drops, the developers push a playlist update onto the servers every week to bring fresh air into the mode selection.
The developers inform in advance about the adjustments in a blog post on an Activision website. However, there seems to be news in this cycle only for regular multiplayer players – for Warzone, everything stays the same. For MW, there are 2 new modes. The complete playlist currently looks like this:

- Tournament
- Ground War on Foot
- Blueprint Gunfight
- Ground War Reinforcement
- Search & Rescue
- Shoot or Ship, Whatever
Warzone
- Summer Games
- Battle Royale Solo / Duo / Trio / Quad

However, the blog post usually misses a few of the modes that are online with the next playlist. Once the update is active, we will list the current modes here.
Playlist Update 01.09. – Summer Games continue active for everyone
When will the update come? Unfortunately, it is hard to say exactly. However, it usually starts tonight (September 1) as early as 7 PM. It may also be delayed, and the playlist may take until 9:30 PM. If the update is still not online by half-past nine, it is more likely to come tomorrow morning (September 2) around 8:00 AM. Most of the time, it has been released in the evening.
What can the current modes do? The worldwide event “Summer Games” is still running until September 7, and here the different CoD nations compete against each other. In 5 disciplines, you can test your skills, acquire cosmetics, and collect medals for your country. On the last day (September 7) of the CoD Olympics, there will be double XP for everything to celebrate.
With “Reinforced Ground War,” a new Ground War variation comes into the game where you need to capture 3 flags, just like in “Domination.” However, a team wins the round if all flags are captured. The respawn is limited, and every time a team captures a flag, all fallen soldiers of that team return.
Another new feature is the “Search & Rescue” mode, which is already known from earlier CoD titles. Here, “Search & Destroy” mixes with the TDM mode “Kill Confirmed” to bring an exciting blend of clever tactics and brute firepower. One team must destroy the enemy’s objective, and eliminated teammates drop a tag instead of going completely down. If your team collects the tag again, the buddy comes back. If the enemy gets the tag, the team member is out for this round.

What else happened with CoD? The two current CoD games, Modern Warfare and Warzone, took a bit of a backseat last week as the new “Black Ops Cold War” was revealed.
