Actually, a patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Battle Royale Warzone was supposed to be released this morning. However, the developers are postponing the eagerly awaited update indefinitely.
What is going on? For the first time since the release, the developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are delaying an update just before its intended release.
According to an Activision blog post, an update with new weapons for Warzone and a 6vs6 map for the regular multiplayer was supposed to arrive this morning at 7 AM our time. However, Infinity Ward tweeted last night:
What did IW tweet? “The update planned for tonight is delayed and will be released in the coming days. […] Stay tuned for more details on the release plan.”
CoD update of 24.03. postponed indefinitely
What happens next? The developers are not providing a new schedule. As soon as we know more, you will find out here on MeinMMO. However, the update is expected to come in the next few days and not just with the next regular update date – Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.
Why was the patch postponed? The developers are not commenting on this either. The changed release date on Wednesday morning our time was somewhat unusual. Typically, CoD updates come on Tuesdays at 7 PM.
It is quite possible that it has something to do with the current circumstances surrounding the Corona pandemic. However, until Infinity Ward better informs us here, this remains pure speculation.
Why are so many waiting for the update? Especially players of the regular multiplayer mode of Modern Warfare have requested changes. With last week’s playlist update, the popular 24/7 mode with small maps was removed from the game, and currently, we can only play the Season 2 map “Atlas Superstore” without a break.
While there are also fans of this map, many players are wishing for the 24/7 playlist with the mini-maps “Shipment”, “Rust”, and/or “Shoot House”. Especially for leveling their weapons, to unlock attachments for the best weapons in Warzone faster, for example.
Some have also been expecting a duo or squad mode for Battle Royale Warzone. While the developers mentioned that the solo mode will remain for now, that doesn’t necessarily rule out additional variants.
