In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and CoD Warzone, Season 6 receives fresh content and it’s going to get spooky. The Halloween event “The Haunting of Verdansk” comes and brings new cosmetics, zombies, a night version of the battle royale map, new modes, and a new reward system with prizes. Here’s what to expect in detail.

Season 6 Reloaded “The Haunting of Verdansk” – When does it start? According to Activision, the first Halloween event “The Haunting of Verdansk” is part of the big seasonal update for Season 6 (Season 6 Reloaded) and is set to start on October 20. The event will run until November 3.
A specific time for the haunting hasn’t been announced, but the new content will likely kick off around 7:00 PM German time.

Is there a new update for Modern Warfare and Warzone? Officially, nothing is known yet. There’s also no preload active on the PS4, which was always present with the last major patches for the Sony console.
So it could be that the relevant data has already come into the game with Update 1.28 and that today there’s just a minor server-side playlist update for CoD MW and Warzone marking the kickoff for the new Halloween event. What’s the event about? A squad of operators undertakes a seemingly normal drop into the Warzone of Verdansk to investigate some incidents there. There’s supposed to be a serial killer lurking somewhere who wears the faces of his victims on his own.
Shortly after landing, all hell breaks loose. The squad is brutally decimated, with only one surviving. The survivor vows revenge and plans to return under the cover of darkness to finish the job. This is where you come in.

The Haunting of Verdansk – What’s New
Event-specific spooky cosmetics and operators in the store: Consistent with the horror scenario, numerous new spooky-look cosmetics await you in the in-game shop, some of which have already been leaked. For example, there is
- the SAW bundle – including Billy The Puppet from the well-known SAW franchise as an operator skin, a special throwing knife, or special weapon blueprints
- the Texas Chainsaw Massacre bundle – including the iconic killer Leatherface as an operator skin or new weapon blueprints
- Dr. Karlov bundle – including a mad scientist under a metal mask as an operator skin
- Ghost: Grim Reaper bundle – including a special Grim Reaper skin for Ghost
Already in the game – new weapon JAK-12: Season 6 Reloaded also includes a new weapon that has been playable for a few days – the new fully automatic shotgun JAK-12. You can find out more about this weapon here:

What’s New for CoD Warzone
New reward system and prizes: As part of the event, there will be an additional reward system. In several areas of the Warzone, there are hidden “Trick or Treat” supply boxes.
When you open one of these supply boxes, you have a chance to receive various cosmetic rewards such as the assault rifle blueprint “Return to Dust” or the melee weapon blueprint “The Cleaver”.
But you can also find a holographic watch, weapon charms, stickers, sprays, or emblems. Or something that could scare you.
If you manage to collect all 16 different rewards from the supply boxes, you’ll receive the cool assault rifle blueprint “Pumpkin Punisher”.

Night infiltrations: Selected modes such as Trios or Zombie Royale will be played on a night version of the Warzone map around Verdansk. While it’s not completely pitch dark, the full moon still illuminates the game world a bit, but the Warzone is likely to become a different experience with the night mode.
New mode “Zombie Royale”: Here you can fight against or alongside the titular zombies. Because instead of going to the Gulag, eliminated players will return as zombies.
As a zombie, you have no weapons, but you possess supernatural powers: increased speed, better jumps, deadlier melee attacks, and thermal vision. This allows you to hunt down human players as an undead.
If a player is eliminated, they drop a syringe. If you collect 2 as a zombie, you are healed and get a second chance to re-enter the game as a human. The last team with a surviving operator wins the match. By the way, all of this takes place at night.
What’s New for CoD Modern Warfare
Even for traditional multiplayer, the Halloween event brings new features.
New fire pumpkin effect: In regular MP, there will be a new effect during the event. If a player reaches 3 kills without dying, their head will turn into a pumpkin.
If a player reaches 10 kills in a single life, the pumpkin head will even start to burn. This signals to other players in the enemy team who they should focus on quickly to avoid being shredded by powerful killstreaks.
Additionally, there will be numerous spooky little features across all possible multiplayer modes. Get ready to be surprised.
New modes: As part of the Halloween event, 2 new modes will come – Onslaughter and Snipers Only.
- Onslaughter: Squads fight for a Juggernaut armor that randomly appears somewhere on the map. With it, they need to advance to a specific target area.
- Snipers Only: A new team deathmatch variant that is played only with sniper rifles. You can choose from 5 pre-made loadouts.
