In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, there is currently a real novelty. For the first time ever, CoD: MW allows you to preload a patch. The preload for the big Season 5 update has started on PS4.
Novelty in CoD MW – there is an update preload: Soon, on August 5th, Season 5 will start for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and CoD: Warzone.
Traditionally, the start of a new season is heralded by an update. This is also the case for Season 5. However, what is different this time is that there appears to be a preload for the big seasonal update – a first since the game’s release. Some players can already download it.

This is what many have been waiting for: The updates for MW and Warzone are often huge. Some players have been struggling with storage space problems (especially on consoles) and particularly with long download times.
Many have long wished for a way to preload such patches so that they can jump into the new content right on launch. And now it seems that this wish is finally being fulfilled.
On which platforms is the preload active? Currently, reports of the preload starting on PS4 are emerging. While not all players can load the new update yet, it is clearly being rolled out gradually in different regions. So if it isn’t available to you yet, it is probably just a matter of time.

How large is the download this time? The developers had already warned that the new patch for Season 5 would be large again. On PS4, the update 1.24 that brings Season 5 is slightly larger than 36 GB.
What you should still consider: For the preload of the update, players are randomly divided into 2 groups. The first can start as early as Monday, August 3rd (48 hours before the start of Season 5), while the second will have the preload unlocked on Tuesday, August 4th (24 hours before the start of the new season).
Furthermore, the update will be preloaded, but it will only be installed and activated on Wednesday at 8:00 AM German time – right at the start of Season 5. You will still be able to play Modern Warfare and Warzone, but you won’t have access to the new content until then.
