For some time now, a strange meta has taken hold in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, especially in Battle Royale Warzone. The strongest weapon was a revolver, a secondary weapon – at least until the recent nerf. What does it look like now?
What kind of weapon is this? The secondary weapon .357 is a revolver that became a really strong shotgun with the right attachment (shotgun shells or “Snake Shot”). At the same time, the .357 was hardly usable without this attachment.
What makes the weapon so strong is that the “Akimbo” perk allows two of them to be used at the same time. This doubles the damage dealt per shot and has led to the .357 being able to kill at shorter distances with an Akimbo shot.
Especially in Warzone, this combination has sneaked into the meta, used by many players. It was long considered a really strong weapon combo for Battle Royale. According to YouTuber and CoD expert TheXclusiveAce, the .357 was even stronger than most primary weapons. However, this has since changed.
Snake Shot Nerf – Is the .357 still worth it?
Here’s how good the revolver is now: With the patch from May 7, the developers nerfed the Snake Shot attachment for the .357. It now deals less damage at all distances, drastically shortening its “one shot range”:
- without additional attachments
- before the nerf: 5 meters
- after the nerf: 3.8 meters
- with 5mW laser and long barrel
- before the nerf: 8 meters
- after the nerf: 5.5 meters
This should have significantly weakened the lethality of this combination, so that particularly rushing into buildings in Warzone no longer results in an immediate death by the revolver. We have embedded the video in which Ace illustrates the nerf here:
At the same time, the .357 revolver has improved without Snake Shot. Along with the patch, its “lighter trigger” and “quality trigger” have been improved so that they no longer have a delay when firing. This makes the .357 a strong alternative to the .50 GS (Desert Eagle).
What alternatives are there? If you still want to play Akimbo, the new Renetti pistol with its 3-round burst could be a real alternative to the .357. The Renetti already has an “OP” setup for Warzone. However, whether it will be just as strong and deadly is yet to be seen.
Alternatively, you can now use primary weapons again. Along with the patch, a change was introduced that allows the new LMG Bruen Mk9 to be unlocked faster. The new LMG has great potential and could turn out to be the new strongest LMG. So it is worth getting it and leveling it up now.
