A pro team from the Call of Duty League is playing a tournament in Warzone and shared some motivational words at the beginning of Season 6 for Modern Warfare. It seems the team overlooked the fact that there has been no official statement regarding the next season.
When does the new season start? According to the Pro team “Minnesota RØKKR”, Season 6 is set to start at the end of this month. It should kick off around September 29.
The start of a new season in Call of Duty follows an unwritten rule. When the Battle Pass for Modern Warfare & Warzone expires, the next season usually starts shortly after – however, there have been few official announcements about it, often just before the end of the previous season.
What does the leak look like? On Twitter, the US team shared a picture of their substantial prize pool. It is said to amount to a total of $100,000, and it is called “RØKKR Royale”:
They wrote: “Celebrate the start of CoD Season 6 with some of your favorite streamers, CDL pros, and more, in our $100,000 tournament starting on September 29.”
How likely is that? It is not 100% certain. There could still be delays, or the season might start right after the end of Season 5, which ends on September 28.
However, due to the release of CoD Black Ops Cold War, there were doubts about whether there would even be a joint Season 6 for the combination of Modern Warfare and Warzone. Those doubts now seem to be cleared. CDL teams are working closely with CoD, and such a statement carries some weight.
But what processes are behind this is not exactly clear. It is unlikely but possible that the author of the tweet simply assumed that the new season would start at the end of September without thinking much about it. If so, the team should reconsider this aspect urgently.
What’s coming with the new season? There is already some exciting information about the next content period. Especially for Warzone, the leaked new modes sound promising:
- Night mode – Experience Verdansk in the dark
- Zombie modes – Eat or be eaten
- Subway stations for Verdansk
For the multiplayer of Modern Warfare, very little information has leaked so far. A new Battle Pass with the usual contents and new maps is expected. Only for the weapons is there already a preview, as three firearms have been found in the data that are more or less ready.
