In a few weeks, Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and CoD: Warzone will come to an end. But what comes next with the start of Season 6? We take a look at what leaks, rumors, and official sources say. This is what is known so far.
When does Season 5 end? Season 5 is currently running for CoD MW and Warzone the Season 5, which recently brought new content for traditional multiplayer and battle royale with the Reloaded Update.
But if you take a look at the current battle pass, you’ll notice that Season 5 doesn’t have much time left. It ends on September 28 at 6:00 PM German time. So, what comes next?
This is why some doubted a Season 6: A leak that surfaced in early August from a CoD partner indicated that Season 5 of CoD MW and Warzone might be the last for this duo. Afterwards, they seem to want to focus on the new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (and Warzone), according to leaks from alleged insiders in Korea. This made some CoD fans nervous.
This is why there will be a Season 6: The Twitter account ModernWarzone, known for its accurate leaks and information, also initially shared this info but has since confirmed that there will indeed be a Season 6. The data reportedly includes entries for a total of 7 seasons – so far, mind you.
In addition, Season 5 ends well before the launch of Black Ops Cold War on November 13, and numerous changes and weapons have already been discovered by data miners, which are likely to come into play only with a new season.

It is thus certain that Modern Warfare and Warzone will still go into a shared Season 6 side by side. However, how things look afterward with the added CoD 2020 remains to be seen. It is quite conceivable that Black Ops Cold War will share the seasons with Warzone.
All about Season 6 in CoD MW and Warzone
Officially, as mentioned before, very little is known so far. However, numerous leaks and datamining results have already revealed some potential details that sound quite exciting and interesting.
CoD Modern Warfare & Warzone – Season 6 Start
When does Season 6 start? According to a “leak” from a professional team, Season 6 is set to start on September 29.
They accidentally revealed the start date for the new season while trying to draw attention on Twitter to an upcoming Warzone tournament that will celebrate the start of Season 6.
And the leak is indeed correct. In the first official trailer of Season 6, September 29 was also shown as the start date for Season 6.
Furthermore, the exact start time is now officially confirmed. Season 6 begins on September 29 at 8:00 AM German time.
Will there be a larger update? Yes, the new patch is called Update 1.27 and can already be downloaded in advance on PS4: CoD MW & Warzone: Preload on PS4 – Here’s how you can download Season 6 in advance
Whether there will also be a preload on Xbox One and PC is unclear. By the way, the new update 1.27 is about 20.5 GB in size on PlayStation 4.
New Battle Pass for Season 6
What is basically set in stone is that Season 6 will come with a new Battle Pass.
What does the new Battle Pass offer? Even though there are still no concrete details about the individual contents, all previous Battle Passes have had a similar structure, making it easy to predict what the next pass will roughly include:
- The pass costs 1,000 CoD points or €10
- There is also a bundle for 2,400 CoD points that includes 20 tier skips
- The pass comes with 100 tiers
- Each of the 100 tiers offers a reward
- 2 operator skins upon purchasing the Battle Pass
- 2 new weapons
- Numerous weapon blueprints
- A total of 1,300 CoD points, so you can finance the next Battle Pass and even make a profit
- Legendary rewards upon completing the pass
- Numerous operator skins with missions for even more skins
- Additional cosmetics like calling cards, emblems, sprays, charms, or vehicle skins
Is the Battle Pass mandatory? To earn all rewards, you must purchase access to the premium reward branch (€10) and unlock the pass completely.
However, there is also a free reward path, where you receive fewer cosmetics, but nothing gameplay-relevant is missed. New base weapons, for example, always come through this free branch and can be earned by all soldiers.

New Weapons for Season 6
What’s up with the new weapons? With every new season, CoD MW and Warzone introduce 3-4 new weapons into the game. This is unlikely to change in Season 6 either.
Although no new weapons are officially known yet, there are currently 4 new weapons in the data that have not yet made it into the game. There is a good chance that these will find their way into the game over the course of Season 6.
These are the hottest candidates for Season 6:
- The two cult sniper M200 Intervention and R700
- The iconic shotgun AA-12 from Modern Warfare 2
- The well-known Russian assault rifle AS VAL
And in the new trailer for Season 6, the AS Val could already be admired. Moreover, the R700 appeared in an image in a blog post by Activision about Season 6. So the chances are good that at least these two weapons will be available for the new season.
New Operators in Season 6
Who could come? Many considered it plausible that another cult figure from the Modern Warfare series might return as an operator – namely Soap.
The popular SAS soldier is still not in the game and could now follow in Season 6. It is conceivable that as a kind of crossover, there will be one or some operators from the Black Ops series. After all, Frank Woods is already available as an operator for pre-orders.
There is still no trace of Soap, but with Farah and Nikolai, 2 other important characters from Modern Warfare return as operators for the new season.
What’s the status of new maps for multiplayer?
Here, nothing further is known yet. There have also been no really new, solid leaks that could have narrowed down the choice somewhat.
However, an older leak could provide insight. In November 2019, nearly 40 maps and over 20 game modes were leaked, many of which have since made their way into the game – such as the popular classics Crash, Shipment, or Rust. And not all maps from this leak are in the game yet. Possible map changes in Warzone
Currently, 2 possible map changes are circulating in the community for Season 6, one of which is almost certain to happen.
The Metro: After a rail system with an armored train was added to the game world of Verdansk in Season 5, it now seems almost certain that in Season 6, the expansion or commissioning of the subway network will take place.

The Nuke: For several seasons, there have been increasing hints that the explosion of a nuclear weapon in a Warzone bunker could either change the game world or even introduce a new battle royale map. So far, this has not happened, and many players are considering this possibility for the upcoming Season 6 as well.
