What’s happening in CoD today? The new Season 6 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone went live early this morning at 08:00 AM German time. Included are all the conveniences that a typical CoD season of the last months brought:
- Fresh modes for Warzone and the traditional multiplayer of CoD MW
- New maps for multiplayer
- Brand new Battle Pass with over 100 cosmetics
- 2 new base weapons to unlock
- A massive download
- A bunch of balance adjustments
- Some bug fixes
This text will focus on the base adjustments. You will learn everything about the download, the new playlists, and the background adjustments like balancing and bug fixes. Everything about the content, the new subway in Warzone, and further insights with Season 6 are here:
Everything about the download on 09/29 – Update 1.27
What’s worth knowing about the download? As usual, the new update takes up a lot of storage. Especially PC players using Warzone & Modern Warfare are faced with a hefty digital load to download. However, on consoles, the download is also substantial, and you even have to start a second part manually to get back into multiplayer. Here are the details:
PC download
- 57 GB with Modern Warfare
- 25.5 GB for Warzone only
Console download
- PlayStation update: 19.3 GB
- Multiplayer data pack: 7.8 GB
- Xbox update: 22.66 GB
- Multiplayer data pack: 8 GB
You need both packages on consoles to start regular multiplayer. If you want to start the co-op mode “SpecOps”, you’ll need an extra package, which is about 6 GB on consoles. To download the corresponding data packages, press on the desired mode, and you will enter the menu for package download.
These data are already included in the large PC update of 57 GB. You don’t need to download anything extra.

Playlist with Season 6 brings brand new modes to the game
What does the new playlist look like? With the update for Season 6, there is also a new playlist in the game. For both CoD MW and Warzone, you will find the current game modes here:
Modern Warfare MP Playlist:
- Ground War
- Blueprint – Custom Gunfight
- Confrontation – Station
- Confirm Killstreak
- Season 6 Moshpit
What can the new CoD MW modes do? There are 3 new modes available for Modern Warfare that haven’t existed before. First, “Confrontation Station”: Here you fight on the small, new gunfight map “Station” in various modes as 2vs2 in the new underground of Verdansk.
In “Confirmed Killstreak”, you can fully hunt for killstreaks. Instead of earning your streaks through kills, you obtain them by collecting the dog tags of eliminated enemies. Each tag accounts for a “kill”. Furthermore, the killstreak progress does not reset upon death. You can continue until you have earned your most expensive killstreak, and then it starts all over again. So you might use a specific killstreak multiple times in one life. Feel free to also go for a Juggernaut with 15 kills: As long as I diligently collect the tags, you will get him too.
The Season 6 Moshpit is all about the two new 6vs6 maps. You play the maps that came into play with Season 6 on a loop as a moshpit. Here are the maps:
- Broadcast: A map remake from CoD 4, currently better known as TV Station in Warzone.
- Mialstor Tank Factory: A large map that offers almost every type of CoD battlefield. It will be resized for 6vs6 fights.
Warzone Playlist:
- Battle Royale – Solo / Duo / Trio / Squad
- Cash Grab Trio
- Tank Royale Squad
What can the new Warzone mode do? With Tank Royale, a brand new mode is coming to the Warzone, bringing fresh mechanics into play. Instead of a Gulag, there are armored trucks. Each team starts with one of the behemoths and can rampage across the map. You can even upgrade and repair the truck:
- Squad must be filled – all teams have 4 players
- Each squad has a big armored truck with a turret
- If a truck is destroyed, there’s no chance for a respawn
- You can get a new truck at supply stations
- The trucks can be repaired at repair stations
- The trucks can be upgraded at supply stations
- The circle gets smaller and moves quickly
- The last team standing wins
The rules of the new mode are unlike anything that Warzone has offered so far. Towards the endgame, it could turn into a hardcore demolition derby in which the last teams fight for survival in their trucks.
Patch Notes – “All” Changes Season 6
Experience shows that developer Infinity Ward does not bring all changes with the patch notes. Last year, there was hardly a larger update that did not also feature secret changes. The most important officially known changes from the patch notes are listed here in English:
General adjustments
- C4 was slightly nerfed – the quick detonation right after the throw now triggers slightly later, and a beep sounds beforehand. Additionally, the explosive charge does not travel quite as fast shortly after the throw.
- The exploit with infinite special ammo has been fixed.
- Problems with respawns in the Headquarters mode have been resolved.
- The trick with the placed bomb and a Molotov/grenade is no longer possible.
Weapon adjustments
- Some issues with the FiNN LMG have been solved, and in-game descriptions of attachments adjusted.
- The hand animation with one of the AK barrels was incorrect and has been fixed.
- Origin 12: Reduced damage in Warzone at very close range.
- Shotguns generally: Increased damage for shotgun shells in Warzone.
Warzone adjustments
- A collision problem in the stadium has been fixed, which allowed players to hide.
- A fence at the hospital is now opaque from both sides.
- Loot train issues have been removed.
- If your mini-map did not rotate, there were sometimes problems with inaccurate pings on the heartbeat sensor.

The innovations of Season 6 are extensive, and a breeze of fresh air blows through the CoD menus. Especially Warzone shines with a few brand new mechanics and brings a subway as well as tank trucks into play. The battle royale demonstrates that it wants to continue to bring entirely new content and grow. Learn here how it could proceed when the new Call of Duty: Cold War celebrates its release.
