The cheater problem of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the BR spin-off Warzone annoys many players. With the latest update, a simple but important feature has finally been added to the game – a report button in the kill cam.
What’s new in CoD? This week, a lot is happening with the two shooter hits Modern Warfare and its sister game Warzone. Update 1.20 brought a ton of new features such as Master Camo, Warzone rule adjustments, a new LMG, and a small function that can easily be overlooked – a report button for the kill cam.
This small but important anti-cheater feature is finally in the game, making it significantly easier to report suspicious players. The feature has been long requested by the community and now we can report opponents with the push of a button.
Report function now available via kill cam
Are cheaters really such a problem? Especially on PC, many players report annoying cheaters. Some players even recommend deactivating crossplay on consoles. Cheaters hide behind walls (Wall Glitchers), are completely resistant to damage (God Mode), or are inhumanly good shots (Aim-Botters) – just to name a few prominent examples.
For casual players, unfair soldiers are usually a smaller problem than for CoD fans who play their rounds almost every day. Time and again, cheaters ruin good matches and kill the fun. Especially in Warzone, after nearly 30 minutes of concentration and tactical gameplay against the last remaining opponent, you can’t do anything because he is cheating in a nasty way.
How can the small button help? After a death, Call of Duty usually shows us a kill cam of our failure. Here you can sometimes spot suspicious actions, and especially cheaters often stand out.
With the new feature, you can report an uncovered cheater directly in the kill cam, leaving a tip for the security team at Infinity Ward. Previously, you had to report the player after the match, which was unnecessarily complicated.
With the new reporting function, the number of reported players is likely to rise significantly, providing the security team with more data.
How does Infinity Ward deal with cheaters? The developers employ a security team that evaluates the reports and collected data to issue penalties. More about bans, unjustified bans, and why there is currently a petition against Activision Blizzard regarding this issue can be found here: CoD MW & Warzone: Many likely banned unjustly – players demand an explanation.
