Season 4 finally starts today: Many have been waiting for it. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and CoD: Warzone, the new season 4 kicks off today, June 11, at 8:00 AM finally. The new season was originally supposed to start last week, but was postponed until today due to the unrest in the USA.
When did the update come? The update has been available for download since 8 AM this morning. But before you jump into the action, a larger patch is still to come.
CoD MW Update 1.22 – The download size: The patch will be massive again – up to 50 GB has been speculated depending on the platform. Even the community manager warned that the download would be large.
Update: On PC, the download is just under 45 GB, on Xbox One a little more than 44 GB (for some, due to a bug, even more than 84 GB) and on PS4 a little more than 32 GB.

With the start of Season 4, you can now officially expect:
- New battle pass
- New operators
- 4 new weapons
- Changes in Warzone
- New multiplayer content including maps and modes for regular MP as well as new modes for Warzone
- Fresh grind challenges
- Changes and fixes (patch notes)
New battle pass with Captain Price and 2 new weapons
A new battle pass with 100 tiers. This is free for all players. However, access to the premium reward branch costs 1,100 CoD points (€10) or 2,400 CoD points for a bundle with 20 tier unlocks immediately.

New operator: Captain Price as the new operator from the battle pass. Gaz is also expected to come.
New weapons: 2 new base weapons – the Fennec (Vector) at tier 15 and the CR-56 Amax (Galil) assault rifle at tier 31 of the new Season 4 battle pass.
New maps and a melee weapon for multiplayer
Which new maps can I expect today? Developer Infinity Ward brings 3 new maps at the start of Season 4:
- The map Scrapyard, a popular classic for traditional MP
- Barakett Promenade, a new large map for Ground War
- Trench, a new 2vs2 map for the Gunfight mode
What does the playlist look like now? Due to the postponement of the new season, the same playlist has been around for a long time. Now there are fresh modes again, but the developers had to remove one mode again with a hotfix. Here’s how it looks now in multiplayer:

What kind of new weapon is this? With sliding melee kills, you can now unlock Kali Sticks, which you can carry as a secondary weapon like a knife.
New event mechanics and the first team deathmatch in Warzone
What’s going on in Warzone? There are quite a few innovations here. The most exciting sound are the new in-match events that can suddenly change the course of every match. Here are more details:
- In-match events: During Warzone matches, one of 3 different event types can occur randomly, shaking up gameplay and strategy.
- The events are ‘Jailbreak’, ‘Fire Sale’, and ‘Supply Chopper’.
- In Jailbreak, all killed players immediately return to the match – regardless of whether they were in the Gulag or just watching.
- In Fire Sale, most purchasable items at the buy stations are reduced by up to 80% or are even completely free.
- In Supply Chopper, an armored but unarmed helicopter flies in, which needs to be shot down. If successful, it drops high-quality loot.
- Contraband Contract System: This is a new, rare contract that rewards you with a permanent blueprint. The contract can appear with a low chance after you fulfill another contract. Grab the contraband crate, take it to the extraction point, and stow it in the waiting helicopter’s bag. If you kill the player with the crate, you can snag it for your team.
- New 50v50 mode – Rumble: Two teams of 50 drop in and fight in various areas around Verdansk. There are custom loadouts, vehicles, and quick respawns.
What does the Warzone playlist look like? There have been hardly any changes here. You can still approach the BR with team sizes of 1 to 4 players. However, the Rumble has also been added as a new option – a 50vs50 team deathmatch that free-to-play players can also start:

Fresh grind challenges for your favorite weapons
Once you unlock gold for a weapon, these new challenges will become available. In a series of various challenges (8 per weapon), you can earn special rewards like emblems and calling cards.
The grind system is thus further expanded. With the big update 1.20 a few weeks ago, “Obsidian Camos” were introduced to the game, and now soldiers get even more challenges to deepen their connection to their favorite weapons.
CoD Modern Warfare & Warzone: Update 1.22 patch notes
These are the main changes from update 1.22 on June 11:
- The reload warning for LMGs with belt feed is now given at lower ammunition levels than before
- Dexterity now works as intended on the HDR (reloading now actually provides ammunition)
- Loot update for Warzone: New weapons and updated blueprints! Keep an eye out for the Fennec, the CR-56 Amax, the Renetti and more
- Many exploit and bug fixes such as for the annoying error code 13-71, the Ghost perk, or for issues with voice chat
