With a new security measure in Call of Duty: Warzone, caught cheaters now find it significantly harder to get back into the game. Already, the first cheaters are complaining and looking for ways to circumvent the 2FA.
What is this new measure? All players registering for the Free-to-Play version of Call of Duty: Warzone must now provide a mobile number on PC. They then receive a verification via SMS to unlock their account.
Each mobile number only works once and can only unlock one account. Caught cheaters receive an immediate ban without warning and cannot use the mobile number employed for a new account.
Cheaters thus need a new number to create a new account, and this is understandably upsetting for many cheaters. They are already searching online for ways to bypass the new 2-factor authentication and are quite vocal about it.
2-Factor Authentication a Major Barrier for Caught Cheaters
What are the reactions from caught cheaters? We at MeinMMO found two statements from cheaters who can no longer easily obtain accounts for the Warzone due to the new measures.
Reading this is truly a balm for the soul, especially when a nasty cheater once kicked you out of the endgame of the Battle Royale.

Hello,
I have been banned several times in Modern Warfare and have also created several accounts. But now I need a phone number for each account to verify it. Numbers I found online unfortunately don’t work, and I can’t use my current number for multiple accounts either. Is there a way to bypass this?
Cheater’s Complaining (translated)
The image comes from reddit and the comment is from a website that sells cheats. The user is apparently desperately searching for ways to log back into CoD so that he can continue his nefarious antics. Preferably without spending much money on a new SIM card or other cheats, of course.

Statement number 2 is also a comment from a website that offers cheats. The cheater warns in his post about a specific cheat being offered there.
CONFIRMED – You cannot create new, free Warzone accounts. You must connect a new mobile number with each account.
The cheats here work, but you will be 100% banned! He [the cheat provider] says it’s my problem and no other customer has that problem. That’s a lie! There are so many customers who have this problem and there is no help! […]
Now I can never play Warzone again because my account has been banned with my mobile number. And you now need a valid mobile number to play the game. The worst service I’ve ever purchased, unfortunately. […]
I have created more than 20 “Modern Warfare” accounts. Half of the accounts were banned before I could even play. How you use the hacks doesn’t matter. When you create a new account, start the cheat, open Call of Duty, and then close CoD, the account is banned! After that, I have to create a new one. It doesn’t matter if I used the cheat or not, because it was detected instantly.
This cheat should be removed or fixed so that one is not banned anymore!
Even More Cheater’s Complaining (translated)
Are the new measures really that helpful? Although online for only a short time, the new 2-factor authentication seems to be achieving its intended effect. Caught cheaters now have to overcome much larger financial barriers to sign up as aim-boters or invulnerable god-moders on the servers:
- New SIM card for a fresh mobile number
- More expensive cheats that the system does not detect
Additionally, there’s the danger of landing on one of the cheater servers and competing against other cheaters whose statistics deviate significantly from the norm.
How does IW ban cheaters? Since the launch of Warzone and the major wave of hackers, Infinity Ward has continuously increased security measures. The studio has its own security team analyzing the data and distributing bans.
