In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and CoD: Warzone, Season 5 will start soon. Two new weapons are essentially already known, and there is still speculation about the third. However, there is much to suggest a new sniper – the R700.
What new weapons will Season 5 bring? On August 5, Season 5 will start for CoD: MW and Call of Duty: Warzone. Not much is known yet about the contents of the new season, but some fresh details were revealed by Infinity Ward in the past few days.
It is said that a completely new faction, the Shadow Company, will be introduced. And also two new weapons have already been discovered by observant fans, which will most likely expand your arsenal in Season 5.
There is still speculation about the third (and possibly fourth) new weapon of Season 5. For a while, there have already been indications of another new sniper rifle. A new leak with initial gameplay now reaffirms the possible new sniper.
New leak shows iconic R700 in-game – But not quite finished yet
This is the weapon in question: It is the classic and iconic sniper rifle R700 from Remington, which was used in the original Modern Warfare 1 and was very strong and popular there.
This is shown in the leak video: The video comes from the well-known and reliable data miner BKTOOR. He discovered initial data some weeks ago, and now a short clip provides the first moving images of the R700 in action.
However, it is still an unfinished asset. For example, the textures are still missing. The model, animations, and sound are already complete, and this new sniper can already shoot. But see for yourself:
Although the leaker says it could possibly also be a DMR and not a sniper, this is very unlikely since the weapon is a classic sniper rifle – whether in games or real life.
When will this sniper arrive? BKTOOR hopes for Season 5 but assumes that the weapon could come with the mid-season update. After all, it is not yet fully finished, and the new season starts soon.
However, the Rytec AMR was discovered shortly before Season 4 in a similar “raw condition”. And in Season 4 the sniper was introduced with the mid-season update. That the same could happen with the R700 is not far-fetched and is actually very likely.
This weapon is also in question: In addition to the R700, entries for the M200 Intervention were also found some time ago – another popular sniper in CoD.
However, there seem to be only entries for it at the moment and no showcase-worthy in-game assets. Thus, a quick appearance seems rather unlikely.
But who knows, in Season 4, the Cali Sticks were also introduced as the first fourth weapon in the game. Maybe Season 5 will follow suit and also bring 4 new weapons during the season.
