Season 5 of Call of Duty brought a lot of new content for players. However, a little bird seems to be stealing the show from the new maps of Modern Warfare and changes to the Warzone.
What kind of nasty bird is this? CoD offers a wide range of deadly tools that allow you to take down your enemies in various ways. With the start of Season 5, a bird now joins the ranks of your selection options.
As the newest “Executor”, the execution animations in the current CoD, you are given a murdering raven. The nasty bird goes after your enemies and particularly attacks the heads of its victims. With a few well-placed headshots, the “Nevermore” executor reliably dismantles your opponents and leaves them with a dull sense of failure.

How do I get the killer raven? Unfortunately, to secure the new raven, you have to spend a little money. The executor “Nevermore” is part of the Season 5 “Battle Pass” and is only accessible to holders of the premium pass. You unlock the unusual murder instrument at level 20.
The Battle Pass costs 1,000 CoD Points (about €10) and offers more than 100 unique rewards. However, the pass is not for everyone. If you only occasionally check out CoD and have no chance of reaching a high level through your playtime. Then it’s better to spend the money on a targeted bundle. Or save the coins for the next CoD. The colleagues from GameStar expect the announcement to be imminent.
What does the bird do in CoD? The raven came into play along with the “Shadow Company” faction, which shares its black outfits with the bird. The developers apparently saw the feathered creature as a fitting companion for the new villain faction, as it is viewed by many as cunning and intelligent.
The name of the finisher “Nevermore” reveals that one of the most famous American poems was also used as inspiration: Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven”.
In its verses, the writer tells the story of a desperate man who loses his beloved and, due to a speaking raven, perhaps even his mind or life. The only word the raven speaks: Nevermore. The 19th-century poem has become part of American pop culture and is now also part of CoD MW 2019. Thus, the raven is a real star in the USA and is now also part of Season 5.
There was even a wrestler who created his role/gimmick based on the poem and an episode of “The Simpsons” in which Homer takes on the role of the man who is hit hard by the bird plague.
More and more animals are roaming around in Call of Duty
Even more animals in CoD? With the finishers/executors, more and more animal companions make their way into the current Call of Duty. In addition to the raven, there are currently 3 other “friends of man” in the game:
- Loyal sheepdog
- Hungry snow wolf
- Spiked hyena
The trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Already in the Warzone trailer from March dogs were seen in Verdansk, and for a while, you could hear wolf howls in certain areas of the Warzone map. A crazy bug even turned weapons into the loyal companions. Man’s best friend seems to have captured the CoD creators’ hearts.
The CoD zoo is getting bigger, and let’s see what the developers come up with next. Perhaps with the setting of the new CoD 2020 in the “Cold War”, we will soon have Russian Tsar dogs to unleash upon the enemies.
