In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone there is now a new skin bundle that fans either hate or love. It is the Kawaii Cat Bundle for the operator Mara. It includes vibrant anime skins, cat ear helmets, and cool swords that shift the style towards Fortnite.
What is the Kawaii Bundle all about? The term “Kawaii” is Japanese and means something like “cute” or “adorable.” Especially in the anime context, the word often appears, and therefore, in Call of Duty, it refers to a new pack full of colorful, cute skins for the soldier Mara.
She receives, among other things, a helmet with cat ears, bright pink weapon skins, and colorful paint jobs for vehicles. There are a total of 10 items in the package, including a cool sword.
The package was briefly available at the start of Season 4, but now it seems to be regularly available in the shop. The colorful graphics divide the fans of Call of Duty, but one thing everyone actually finds cool.
Kawaii Skins – Too colorful for a hardcore military shooter?
Here are the reactions: Call of Duty has largely come as a brutal, dark shooter with soldiers and war. The developers emphasized this repeatedly at the launch in 2019 and even explained that they would not bring silly pink skins like back in Black Ops 4.
Therefore, the introduction of the new skins seems quite bizarre. The colorful graphics and the cat ears are more reminiscent of Fortnite, where the Lynx skin also sported a cat ear outfit and in Chapter 2 various cat skins appeared.
This is what the haters say: Some fans of Call of Duty see it this way too, expressing their opinions about the package on various social media channels. There was the following feedback from disappointed players on Twitter and Reddit under the official announcement of the package:
- Biało Czerwony: “Welcome to Fortnite”
- Warzone: “This game is becoming unrealistic! But they said it would remain realistic!”
- Dylan: “OK, time to delete Modern Warfare…”
- Sinful7s: “I love that they always said to keep it ‘realistic’ and then throw in such nonsense.”
- AuNAnoMan: “Everything is just leaning towards the cartoon style of Fortnite. What I actually like best about Warzone is that you can look like a soldier. Something that Blackout really struggled to achieve.”
This is the feedback from the fans: Despite or precisely because of CoD’s rather dark look, there seems to be a larger group of fans celebrating the new package:
- Jules: “Just a thought… some players are actually girls, like me. Maybe we actually like something that is not so aggressively masculine. Why always be so ugly?”
- CactusCracktus: “I will be honest, the emblem and the sticker are damn cute and I’m ashamed to admit that.”
- Uncle_Freddy: “Is it bad that I want to buy it just because of the cringe factor?”
Almost everyone finds this good: But regardless of whether one likes the anime look or not, there is one aspect that most players agree on: The swords included in the package are damn cool and a sought-after item that even hardcore haters may want to buy the package after all. The swords are likely to become as popular as the Kali sticks.
