The 725 has long been considered the best shotgun. Especially at the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, this double-barreled giant instilled fear and dread in the community. After numerous nerfs, it seems that this is now finally over. An expert reveals in a recent video which shotgun currently deserves special attention.
Which shotgun has overtaken the 725? In a new English video by CoD weapon specialist “Drift0r”, the YouTuber presents the R0-9 as a worthy challenger to the 725.
This shotgun behaves quite similarly to the 725, but has a larger magazine and excels in close-quarter combat. Here, it shines with secure kills.
What are the weapon’s values? Just like with the 725, you can fire two quick shots at enemies with the R0-9.
- Fire rate of the double shot: 300 rounds/minute
- Delay between shots: 500 ms
- One-shot kill range: Between 3.5 – 4 meters
- Time to aim down sights: 300 ms without attachments
The rapid double shot significantly increases the range for one-shots, although we might rather talk about two-shot kills here. Due to the fairly random distribution of the projectiles, “Drift0r” couldn’t specify a concrete range but estimates it to be a strong 7 meters.
Shotgun R9-0 requires loadouts for close combat
How should I use the R9-0? This shotgun plays similarly, but does some things differently than the 725 and relies on its lethality in close combat.
In defending the headquarters, a flag, or storming an occupied room, the close-quarters shotgun shows its strengths. It was designed to quickly and reliably clear opponents from very short distances.
Whether with hip fire or aiming down sights, after the hit marker of the first shot, you can almost be sure that the second shot will take down the hit enemy at close range.
What attachments are recommended? “Drift0r” focuses on the gun’s mobility in his setup and slightly increases damage and range with the barrel and muzzle.
- Muzzle: Choke – Reduces the spread slightly and adds more damage to the aimed point.
- Barrel: FORGE TAC Barricade – Further reduces spread and adds a few centimeters more range.
- Laser: 5mW Laser – Although this attachment is rather unpopular, it finally makes sense on the R9-0. You get more precise hip fire and a significantly higher “sprint to fire speed”.
- Underbarrel: Merc Foregrip – Increases your ADS speed and provides some recoil control.
- Grip: Patterned Grip Tape – This grip tape also gives you more mobility and increases your “sprint out time” and ADS speed.
“Drift0r” plays this setup without the perk “Overkill” but takes a Desert Eagle as his secondary weapon, which helps him against enemies at longer distances.
What should I avoid with the shotgun? Unlike the 725 or the “Model 680”, don’t expect longshot kills from this weapon. With slug rounds, you might achieve a kill at 25 meters, but you need to hit in the upper chest area.
Moreover, the projectiles are unpredictable and when aiming down sights, the slugs go wherever they want. If you’ve warmed up to the weapon, feel free to try the slugs. However, “Drift0r” could not even conduct proper tests to determine the range for headshot kills. According to him, the projectiles flew in all directions.
725 remains a strong option for pump fans
What makes the 725 so powerful? With the right modifications, the 725 can be strong at many ranges; even as a sniper weapon, this nasty device performs well.
The big disadvantage of the weapon is its two measly rounds in the magazine. However, those who can cope with this fact get an all-purpose weapon with strengths at all ranges.
Which is now stronger? At the shortest distances, the R9-0 appears to have the edge. The quick movement and pleasant kill range with two hits from the double shot make the shotgun a useful ally when clearing houses.
However, the 725 remains strong as it also lands good kills up close, but can also be adapted for longer distances.
However, when it comes to hard situations and you want to get rid of several enemies in quick succession, like in defending the “headquarters”, the R0-9 should be your choice.
Which weapons are currently still strong? Currently, shotguns, LMGs, DMRs, and sniper rifles are considered the specialists that unfortunately perform less impressively in respawn modes.
