The weapons of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are constantly getting updates, and new guns are added with each season. To let you know what is trending in Season 2, here are the 5 top weapons with really strong setups.
What can you see here? Here you will find a compilation of the current best weapons with OP setups that you should definitely try in standard public matches.
Top 5 weapons in Season 2 with the best attachments
The setups come from the YouTuber and streamer “Inkslasher”, who has already published many analyses and videos with tips for CoD: Black Ops 4 on his channel and now releases new videos about the best weapons for Modern Warfare with each season. Here is his complete analysis:
What are the 5 strongest weapons in Season 2? Assault rifles remain, along with the MP5, the benchmark. However, a shotgun can also make its mark this time:
- RAM-7 – Assault Rifle
- MP5 – SMG
- M4A1 – Assault Rifle
- Grau 5.56 – Assault Rifle
- R0-9 – Shotgun
5th Place: R0-9 – Shotgun to hold on
What makes the R0-9 so powerful? This shotgun comes with a double barrel and allows you to fire twice in quick succession. The damage you can inflict with these salvos is remarkable.
What really makes the shotgun strong is that you don’t need to aim down sights to land good hits. If you adjust to the shotgun’s limited range, you get a fierce kill tool that works completely without sights.
- Muzzle: Choke
- Barrel: FORGE TAC Long Shot
- Laser: 5mW Laser
- Grip: Stippled Grip Tape
- Perk: Sleight of Hand
Why does this setup work so well? “Inkslasher” plays this configuration very mobile and states that the most important aspect of this weapon is damage range and the sprint-out time, meaning the time you take to be able to fire again after sprinting.
Since you don’t need to aim down sights and can therefore choose attachments that do not decrease your movement speed, you get many bonuses without any drawbacks.
The problem with shotguns is getting kills at longer distances. Bring a strong secondary weapon with you or frequently pull out a handgun. But at the shortest ranges, no one can match you here.
Here is another strong setup and an analysis of what makes the weapon better than the 725:
4th Place: Grau 5.56 – Battle Pass weapon with ambitions
What is the Grau 5.56 good at? This assault rifle was fresh in the game with Season 2 and can immediately hold its own. The weapon has an extraordinary range and can score 4-shot hits over 50 meters with the right attachments.
In comparison, it has a low recoil and makes secure kills at almost all distances. However, it cannot surpass the two top ARs, as its fire rate puts the time-to-kill, the time from the first hit to the kill, nearly 20% above the top value of the RAM-7.
- Barrel: FSS 26.4″ Archangel
- Laser: Tactical Laser
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Ammunition: 50-round magazine
- Grip: XRK Void II
Why is this setup strong? This configuration makes the Grau 5.56 dangerous at all distances while keeping the aim down sights time (ADS) at a reasonable level.
If you’re not in “Ground War“, this weapon gets kills with 4 hits at almost any distance, and you have manageable recoil and a decent number of bullets in the magazine.
The Grau 5.56 is very versatile and offers several really strong setups. Here you can find a more in-depth comparison of the top assault rifles and which setups for the Grau 5.56 are still really effective:
3rd Place: M4A1 – Timeless all-rounder
Why is the M4 so good? This assault rifle has been a top choice since its release and continues to rank among the best weapons even after a few minor nerfs.
The M4 brings balanced values in ADS time, fire rate, and range, all combined with manageable recoil. It is a well-balanced weapon that does a good job in any situation but isn’t exceptionally outstanding anywhere. However, this versatility is what defines it and makes it one of the top weapons.
- Barrel: Corvus Custom Marksman
- Stock: No Stock
- Underbarrel: Merc Foregrip
- Ammunition: 50-round magazine
- Grip: Stippled Grip Tape
Why this setup? With this mix of range and mobility, “Inkslasher” highlights the strengths of the weapon and compensates for the disadvantages of the barrel and foregrip attachments with the absence of stock and the grip tape.
This modification can shine at any range, and you hardly need to worry about how far away the enemy is. The M4 comes, like the Grau 5.56, with many good attachments and can be adjusted in different ways. Here you can find even more setups and values for the M4:
2nd Place: MP5 – Run&Gun setup with pace
Why is the MP5 so strong? This submachine gun has consistently secured a top place among the best weapons since the release of Modern Warfare, just like the M4.
The SMG offers a strong range for a submachine gun and can achieve 3-shot kills at close range, unlike the assault rifles. The speed and mobility of this weapon make it an optimal companion at the front lines.

- Barrel: Monolithic Suppressor (integrated)
- Laser: Tactical Laser
- Ammunition: 45-round magazine
- Grip: Stippled Grip Tape
- Perk: Sleight of Hand
Why should I choose this setup? If you like to run and gun and prefer to stay close to the enemy, this setup has everything you need. “Inkslasher” is excited about this combination and has a lot of fun with it.
Since you should aim to hit opponents at most mid-range, the weapon doesn’t need a range boost. Instead, this setup focuses entirely on suppressors, ADS time, and plenty of ammunition. More setups and data on the MP5 can be found here:
1st Place: RAM-7 – Better M4, but harder to play
- Barrel: XRK Ranger
- Sight: Cronen Mini Reflex
- Stock: XRK Close Quarters Stock
- Ammunition: 50-round magazine
- Grip: Stippled Grip Tape
Why does the RAM-7 hold the top spot? The RAM-7 is the better M4. It may not offer the extensive configuration options of the M4, but it performs better in the typical combat range of assault rifles.
However, the weapon is somewhat more challenging to handle due to its interesting recoil, which is a bit stronger than that of other 5.56 caliber assault rifles. But you get good damage, high range, and a really fast weapon.
What strengths does this setup bring? With this configuration, the time to aim down sights is hardly affected, and the range gets a solid boost. The sight helps with this weapon immensely, allowing you to secure kills even at longer distances.
The RAM-7 was introduced with the Season 1 Battle Pass and has gradually climbed to the top. Here you can find more good setups and the details of the weapon:
“Inkslasher” claims that currently, no other rifle surpasses the RAM-7, what do you think? Which weapons work best for you?
