This weekend, you can test the multiplayer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for free. This period can be used by Warzone players to unlock one of the best weapons for Battle Royale, the Grau 5.56.
What is this action about? From Friday, June 12, to Monday, June 15, you can play Modern Warfare for free and try out different maps and game modes. The start and end are at 7:00 PM each day.
All you need is a free account in Battle Royale Warzone. You can easily download the game from the respective store for PS4, Xbox One, or PC:
- PS Store: Call of Duty: Warzone (PS4)
- MS Store: Call of Duty: Warzone (Xbox One)
- Blizzard Store: Call of Duty: Warzone (PC)
The weekend coincides with the start of Season 4 in both titles.
Why is this worthwhile for Warzone players? Modern Warfare and Warzone are essentially one game. They share weapons, challenges, and the new Battle Pass.

Additionally, you can unlock the popular assault rifle Grau 5.56 much faster and easier through Modern Warfare, and then use it in both that game and in Warzone.
Unlocking the Grau 5.56 for Warzone faster
What do you need to do for the Grau 5.56? To unlock the assault rifle, you need to get 5 kills with assault rifles in a minute 25 times.
While you can also get these 5 kills in a minute in Warzone, it is more challenging due to the map size.
In Modern Warfare, however, there are often many quick kills, especially on the two small maps Shoothouse and Shipment, which can be played this weekend. However, as a Free2Play player, you have no control over the map selection, which is a slight disadvantage.
What makes the Grau so strong? The Grau 5.56 ranks at the top of the assault rifles with its pure stats and stands out particularly with its stability. However, it loses some appeal due to its lower fire rate and longer time-to-kill (TTK).
