With Season 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and CoD: Warzone let you play as two really tough guys. We explain what makes the two new operators so special and whether perhaps even more will come.
What’s up with the new operators? A new Season 3 is about to start in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Although there is hardly any official information yet, leaks and an initial official teaser image suggest that we will get at least 2 new operators with the new season.
Who are the two new operators? According to leaks, these are the characters
- Alex
- and Ronin
Their appearance should finally be known now. The recently posted official image for Season 3 on Twitter essentially confirms the leak.
There, Alex is seen as the central figure in the middle. The character on the left side of the image is most likely Ronin.
What makes the new operators of Season 3 so special?
The interesting thing is – both new operators are really special. But why? What is so special about them?
Alex – a presumed dead hero from the campaign: Alex is a CIA agent and an important character from the campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019.
Most people probably assumed that Alex dies at the end of the campaign when he sacrifices himself for the team and manually triggers deadly explosives.
But apparently he survived the explosion – although not completely unharmed. As a new official image from a promo email now definitively confirms (his name Alex and his callsign Echo 3-1 are clearly visible in the picture), Alex returns with Season 3.
However, it is also clearly recognizable from the teaser image for Season 3 that he apparently lost his left leg and now wears a leg prosthesis. It remains exciting to see whether Modern Warfare clarifies this twist further – for example, with an in-game cinematic.
By the way, even though some players have already mocked this, soldiers with prosthetics do exist in special operations units of the US military in the real world. The fact that Modern Warfare is now addressing this issue is celebrated by many fans.
In fact, there are some prosthetic users in the US armed forces – even among the US Army Special Forces or the Navy Seals.
In special operations units, for example, it applies: If the soldier still meets the physical requirements set for him by the elite units, he can still remain a member of that unit and even actively participate in operations, even with prosthetics.
Ronin – a Special Forces operator with a real-life inspiration: The fact that Ronin is apparently modeled after a real ex-operator from the Special Forces is well received by many fans.
Clever fans and Reddit users quickly discovered that the operator on the left appears to be the Special Forces veteran Tu Lam. He was a long-time member of the Green Berets, participated in numerous operations, and now runs his own YouTube channel and a security company named “Ronin Tactics.”
The appearance and name of the new operator cannot just be a coincidence, as many fans suggest. The parallels to the real “Ronin” are clearly recognizable to many and are very well received.
Will Season 3 bring a 3rd operator?
Will there be more operators in Season 3? What fans and players are currently puzzling over is the operator on the right side of the teaser image – an as yet unknown woman.
Many players speculate that she could be another operator joining Modern Warfare with the new Season 3. But for now, it’s only speculation.
Ghost is also seen as a fourth operator, but he is already known (even in the depicted outfit).
