Season 3 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and CoD: Warzone has now started. We will show you which content you can look forward to at the beginning and throughout the new season.
This is what many have been waiting for: Since 8:00 AM on April 8th, the Season 3 of CoD: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone has begun.

But what does the new season actually bring? Infinity Ward has now communicated this with a roadmap. We explain what to expect in the launch week and in the following weeks and months of the 3rd season.
What Season 3 offers at launch
During the launch week (from April 8), Season 3 has already a lot to offer for the traditional multiplayer and for the battle royale mode Warzone. You can expect:
New Operator: the first of a total of 3 new operators – Alex. This presumed-dead CIA agent apparently survived the explosion at the end of the campaign and is now back – but different from how he was known before.
New Battle Pass: As expected, Season 3 also features a new Battle Pass with 100 tiers and over 150 fresh rewards.
If you want to unlock all Battle Pass rewards, again 10€ or 1,000 CoD points are due. If you are satisfied with the rewards from the free reward branch, you do not have to spend any money for the pass. Everything relevant to gameplay, such as new base weapons, can be obtained there for free.
There is also a Battle Pass bundle for 2,400 CoD points. This includes not only the pass itself but also 20 tier skips, allowing you to immediately unlock 20 tiers in the pass.
New Weapons: Two new weapons will be introduced in Season 3 through the Battle Pass:
- the SKS, a new semi-automatic DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle) of Russian production. It is said to have a higher rate of fire than all other firearms of this kind. But a precisely placed shot should be enough for you to not have to land any follow-up shots.
- the Renetti, a semi-automatic 9mm pistol that is said to shine at short distances.
New Multiplayer Maps: At launch, there are 3 new maps for the traditional multiplayer:
- Talsik Backlot, a popular construction site map from the first Modern Warfare
- Hovec Sawmill, set in a quiet farming village
- Aniyah Incursion, a smaller version of the map Aniyah Palace
New Warzone Mode: From now on, you can make the Battle Royale (and also the Plunder mode) of Modern Warfare unsafe in four-player squads. Because with Quads there is now finally a mode for teams with 4 players in Warzone.
Vehicle Skins: With Season 3, it is now also possible to equip vehicles with special vehicle skins. As soon as you get into a vehicle, the appearance of the vehicles will change.
Things to look forward to during Season 3
After the first season week, more content for Warzone and Modern Warfare will be rolled out gradually. These include among others:
More new Operators: A total of 2 further new operators are slated to be introduced in Season 3 alongside Alex.
- Ronin
- and Iskra
New Multiplayer Map: In the further course, a 4th new multiplayer map will be added to the game – the popular Hardhat from Modern Warfare 3.
There you will fight in a small, winding construction site in close quarters, but you will also have plenty of opportunities to eliminate your opponents from afar.
In addition, the Gunfight mode will be expanded with the new map Aisle 9, which is apparently set in a warehouse.
New Multiplayer Modes: For the regular multiplayer, 2 new modes have been announced by the developers for the further course of Season 3 so far.
- Gun Game Reloaded
- and Reinfected Ground War
This appears to be revamped variants of the Gun Game and Ground War modes in the infected format. So far, there are no further details about it.
In addition, Sony revealed in a blog about Season 3 two more modes that are set to join during the season:
- Sabotage: Players must destroy a target within a set timeframe
- Jug of War: Here you compete with the opposing team for the Juggernaut equipment. The goal is to wear it and safely escort the Juggernaut to the enemy base
New Warzone Content: After the introduction of Quads, more content is also to follow for Warzone. Officially announced so far is only the mode Scopes & Scatter Guns. Here you will apparently be only using shotguns and sniper rifles. Loadout drops are likely deactivated.
But there is more to come. If you believe the data miners, the following modes could be introduced for Warzone:
- Battle Royale Duos with teams of 2 players.
- Battle Royale High Action, where the deadly gas circle moves much faster.
- Battle Royale One Shot. Headshots are lethal. No loadout drops.
- Realism Battle Royale: Warzone with realism rules, meaning no HUD and increased headshot damage
- Hardcore Battle Royale: Warzone in hardcore format: Weapons are much deadlier, no HUD, friendly fire active
And the developers have also already revealed how they want to bring fresh wind into the battle royale during Season 3.
New Weapon: Later in Season 3, there will be a new weapon that is still secret – just like the crossbow in Season 1 and the M26-MASS shotgun in Season 2.
However, the picture in the roadmap shows the M249 SAW machine gun at the corresponding spot. It is quite possible that this firearm will be the 3rd new weapon of Season 3.
Gunsmith Customs: In addition, with Gunsmith Customs, another content for the course of Season 3 has been announced. What exactly it will be about is not yet known. It is conceivable to have new blueprints for weapons or the possibility to further modify or color your weapons with the gunsmith feature. The so-called “Frankensteining,” which allows you to specifically modify individual parts of a weapon, would definitely be well received.
PS4 also gets exclusive content in Season 3
As Sony also announced, there will be further exclusive content for PS4 players with Season 3.
What content is PS4 exclusive?
- Shoot House for the survival mode in SpecOps.
- The Call of Duty: Warzone Combat Pack – Season 3 (Sony Combat Pack 2) for PS Plus subscribers
Wait, Shoot House in SpecOps? While Shoot House is among the most popular maps of Modern Warfare, it actually belongs in the regular (competitive) multiplayer. But with Season 3, PS4 players can completely rediscover this map – in co-op.
There you play as the last survivors and fight together against the AI. You look for the ideal choke point, make use of higher levels in the office building, and block entrances with traps or explosives to eliminate as many enemies as possible.
What is included in the Call of Duty: Warzone Combat Pack (Season 3)? This new mini-DLC is available for free for all PlayStation Plus members. The contents are mostly cosmetic and can be used in the regular multiplayer of Modern Warfare and also with the free Call of Duty: Warzone.
The pack includes:
- Operator skin for Wyatt
- Sniper rifle blueprint
- Handgun blueprint
- Tactical knife
- Weapon talisman
- Animated calling card
- Spray motif
- Token for 60 minutes of double weapon XP
By the way, the Sony Combat Pack 2 will remain PlayStation-exclusive, like the Warzone Combat Pack, until October 1, 2020. Only then will it be available on PC and Xbox One.
