In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, players can embark on a time travel journey to one of the most popular CoD installments. However, the highlight, the multiplayer mode, is currently missing. A leak now reveals why that might be the case.
The current status of the Remastered CoD MW 2: On March 31st, the wait for many CoD fans came to an end as the Remastered version of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was finally released. A polished and enhanced version of the classic from 2009 (initially only on PS4).
Currently, only the cool campaign is playable, with no trace of the multiplayer mode. However, many consider that to be the heart and one of the best MP modes in the entire series. According to official statements from Activision, it’s not something to expect at this time.
A leak has revealed that behind closed doors, there is indeed work being done on the acclaimed multiplayer. The leaker has now returned with new information.
Where do the sources come from? The leak we are referring to comes in both cases from TheGamingRevolution. He has made a name for himself in the CoD community through his accurate predictions. However, take these statements with a grain of skepticism. They are not officially confirmed.
His Twitter account seems to have been banned in the meantime, but in a recently released video, he shared his purported insights with the world:
“They don’t know if they’ll ever release [the MP]”
What does the new leak say? According to the latest information, the multiplayer mode of the Remastered version is basically finished and could be released. However, the developers have decided against it because “so much has changed, and they’re not sure if the community would like it.”
Furthermore, it is said about the multiplayer: “It has strayed far from the original Modern Warfare 2.” The reason for the silence regarding the missing multiplayer mode is therefore the fear of upsetting fans of the classic, according to the leak.

I have heard that they are still testing it, so I assume they are still making changes. I feel that it will eventually come out, I just really don’t know when. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s not until a year from now.

What does Activision say about this? Regarding the current leak, the publisher of Call of Duty or developer Infinity Ward has not commented. However, they continue to stand by their statement that they do not want to unnecessarily divide the player base.
The current focus is entirely on CoD: Modern Warfare and the hot new Warzone mode. There, they respond quickly to player feedback and promptly bring back the most popular mode and even have a long-awaited surprise up their sleeve.
