On Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a new update went live on January 11th. Contrary to the developers’ announcements, it is surprisingly small and only fixes a few annoying bugs.
This was planned: According to Joe Cecot, Co-Design Director at Infinity Ward, the upcoming update was supposed to be significant and address various bugs and issues. It was expected to be released this week, which ends today, Sunday.
Players were eagerly awaiting the update, as several bugs have crept into CoD lately.
Now there is an update in Modern Warfare, but it is surprisingly small. Players will still have to wait for the promised big patch. The “big patch” is in the works, but Infinity Ward has not yet provided a date for it.
What’s in the new update for Modern Warfare
These bugs are being fixed: Only 4 points are listed in the official patch notes. They include:
- A few glitch spots at Karst River Quarry that could be reached with vehicles have been fixed.
- The bug that occurred with the challenge “Tag 25 enemies with the drone” and which did not count correctly has been fixed.
- Until now, players could spend multiple trial tickets in a trial match and therefore unnecessarily lose. This is no longer possible.
- After 9 players are infected in an infected match, the player has no throwing knife available after a tactical entry.
How is the update being received? Many players are surprised and angry that the update is so small. Issues that were raised in the past few days are not listed here and have not been fixed.
Many soldiers are still demanding that the player collisions be fixed. Players can push each other around, causing them to run into claymores or push them out of cover. This is currently seen as one of the major points of criticism in the game.
Other players are calming their upset comrades. They say that surely a larger update must be coming soon. After all, Infinity Ward has released this update as a hotfix. The promised update should be arriving soon.
When can we expect the big update? This is currently hard to say. None of the developers have commented on it so far.
However, since it was announced for this week, one might think that it should come soon and is probably only a few days late.
