A well-known leaker says he has received new information regarding when the battle royale mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will finally start. He believes it will be in Season 2, with the date circulating as next Tuesday, February 18th.
This is what the leaker says: A data miner has contacted the YouTuber TheGamingRevolution with this new information:
- 8 weekly challenges for CoD Warzone, the battle royale mode, have been found in the data.
- These 8 weekly challenges are all intended for the current Season 2 in CoD MW .
The leaker concludes from this: The leaker assumes one piece of information to be certain.
- The battle royale mode will start in Season 2 – so it should happen soon.
The other information is uncertain: The exact start date.
The leaker concludes that Warzone must come soon, as there are still 8 weeks left in Season 2 to fit in all the challenges. However, since it is not clear when Season 2 ends, the exact release date is speculation.
The leaker assumes that Season 2 lasts nine weeks and that there are 8 weekly challenges. Therefore, CoD MW should start the Warzone mode a week after the season begins:
- The start would then be on Tuesday, February 18th.
However, the leaker himself says that this is just a conclusion and not certain.
Infinity Ward does not announce anything significant for next week
This speaks against the theory: CoD MW has published a blog post about what will happen next week. There is no mention of battle royale or any hint of it. The talk is about 1v1 on the map Rust and double weapon XP.
It is puzzling why CoD MW keeps the start of this mode such a secret when there are clear hints in the game itself and also constantly something leaks or bugs, making it seem like the mode is about to be released.

How credible is the leaker? TheGamingRevolution is probably the most well-known leaker for CoD MW. He has been very active in recent weeks.
Recently, he seems to have caught the attention of Activision Blizzard as he has gone overboard with the “leaks”:
- his Twitter account was suspended
- and he received copyright strikes on YouTube videos
So he is certainly not an unknown person leaking information. But one can never be completely sure about leaks, even if they come from “known” leakers.
Because even leakers cannot always rely on their sources or may spread information that later turns out to be outdated if the studio changes its plans.
Why is Infinity Ward keeping the start a secret?
What’s behind this: One can actually assume that Infinity Ward will signal something on social media beforehand when the battle royale mode starts. Why it might be advantageous for the mode to suddenly appear on a Tuesday evening is unclear.
The data miner’s information that the mode is coming in Season 2 and brings 8 weekly challenges seems plausible. There is much to suggest that it will start soon.
Players will probably not have to wait much longer for the start of battle royale in Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
