In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the “Boots on the Ground War” mode is now live and fulfills the wishes of numerous fans: a 64-player battle without tanks.
What exactly is this mode? Boots on the Ground War offers you the rules and maps of Ground War with one difference: there are no tanks.
Additionally, the realism rules are activated. You play with less health, without crosshairs and HUD, and the mini-map is only available when a teammate calls in a drone.

How is the new “Ground War” version received? The mode is cheered by many fans. Numerous soldiers liked the concept of Ground War and the massive battles, but the tanks were often a thorn in their side.
This is now different and at times you have to run long distances without seeing or hearing an enemy. The 64 players on the map still provide a lot of action and excitement, which is well received by the soldiers.
Even during the release of the patch notes, reddit user Jartasm said: “Boots on the Ground War sounds fantastic, really.”
Other players agree and add that the rules could be tightened even further. For example, the use of aerial vehicles could be banned, thus curbing the killstreaks. User NeonRain111 adds: “Tanks were the reason I stopped playing Ground War.”

However, most commentators find the realism rules good. One player even managed to defeat 12 campers in one go thanks to the low health of the soldiers. This way, players are more challenged and, due to the lack of a mini-map, have to rely more on their hearing.
