Season 2 introduced a new, but secret and currently inaccessible mode to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Many are sure – Warzone is the new Battle Royale. Now a glitch has revealed the name of the mode, confirming a suspicion.
What is the new mode in Modern Warfare all about? The major Update 1.14 brought numerous new contents of Season 2, along with a big surprise.
The game menu has expanded to include a previously secret mode, which in the eyes of the community can essentially only be Battle Royale. And there is indeed a lot of evidence: CoD Modern Warfare: Battle Royale almost confirmed.
As the mode is still referred to as “secret”, its name was not known until now. That has now changed.
Players glitched into the lobby of the secret mode – here’s what they discovered
Thanks to a bug or glitch, some players were already able to at least view the lobby of the mysterious new mode. There they discovered not only the name but also some additional details.
The new mode is called: The secret mode is called Warzone. This aligns with the leaked promo material that a Redditor claims to have received from an insider.
The YouTuber and well-known CoD leaker TheGamingRevolution stated that this is the name for the Battle Royale that Treyarch actually wanted to use for Black Ops 4 instead of Blackout.
The YouTuber was also responsible for the recent leak, which said that Battle Royale would likely be coming with Season 2 to CoD: Modern Warfare.

Here’s what the players found: In the lobby, players were unable to start games, but they could browse through some tabs and discovered several features:
- There is an option to fill a squad. So you will likely be able to jump into battle solo, with friends, or with randomly assigned players.
- In the weapon menu, while you cannot freely select weapons, there is the option “Drop Kits”, where you may be able to choose your starting equipment or special deliveries for a match.
- There will be a training area.

Additionally, several images have now been leaked on Twitter, showing among other things
- a training area
- Supply Drops
- as well as vehicles
in the game.

Interestingly: This information also comes from TheGamingRevolution, who has been very active in recent hours.
- Apparently, contents from the Battle Pass of Season 1 have now been found in the data in connection with Battle Royale. Whether players can perhaps still earn older cosmetics from previous seasons retroactively is not yet known.
- Furthermore, the Battle Royale will likely feature challenges, and players will be able to fight to re-enter in the Gulag, a sort of arena for “fallen” players. Additionally, it seems that players will also be able to place bets on the fights of others.
- According to the YouTuber, players will also find missions. These can be looted in the form of tablets. For example, you may need to eliminate a certain player.

Will the Battle Royale possibly be Free-to-Play? Interestingly, TheGamingRevolution claims to have heard that Battle Royale in Modern Warfare will be available as Warzone Free-to-Play and as a standalone download, in case you haven’t purchased Modern Warfare.
Note: Even though the YouTuber has correctly predicted a lot about Modern Warfare by now – these remain unconfirmed details. So take it all with a grain of caution.

When can we finally play Warzone? As of now, there is no official date. However, TheGamingRevolution claims to have learned some information here as well.
According to him, the developers aimed for a surprise release like with Apex Legends and therefore did not promote the mode in advance.
He personally estimates that a release could be on the coming Friday (February 14), but his sources say “sooner than you think”. Possibly even today? It remains exciting in any case.
