Activision Blizzard is cracking down on leaks. They have filed a motion against reddit in court: The discussion platform is supposed to release the data of a user who uploaded an image to Call of Duty: Warzone. This is the highly classified battle royale mode of CoD Modern Warfare.
This is the situation: In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Activision Blizzard has something big up their sleeve that they have hinted at to investors since February 2019 and that they are raving about. Due to numerous leaks, it is now known that the battle royale mode “CoD: Warzone” will be it.
Warzone is rumored to be a standalone free-to-play game where 200 fighters will blow each other away on a gigantic map. It is said to be a kind of Call of Duty: Fortnite XXL. Allegedly, the game will go live on March 10. The mode has not been officially introduced yet.
A leaker is said to have posted a protected image
This is the leak in question: After the launch of the Season 2 of Call of Duty Modern Warfare a week ago, an image was uploaded to reddit. This image showed soldiers on a downed helicopter and the caption “Call of Duty: Warzone.”
This image was posted by the reddit user “Assyrian2410” on February 12. (via reddit) Activision Blizzard had it quickly taken down, but the image had already spread.
The user had said on reddit that “he found the image online and doesn’t know what it is.” Meanwhile, the image and the user’s reddit account have been deleted.

Activision Blizzard is taking legal action against reddit
This is what Activision Blizzard is doing now: They are invoking the “Digital Millennium Copyright Act” of 1998 and are demanding that reddit identify the person who committed the copyright infringement and published the images.
Because this image is under their copyright and publishing it violates their rights.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Activision Blizzard filed a motion at a court in California on February 14. Activision Blizzard now wants reddit to provide the user’s data so they can take legal action against them. This includes the IP address, names, emails, phone numbers—everything reddit has about the user so that Activision Blizzard can identify them.
An ultimatum is apparently in place for February 28.
There is currently no statement from Activision Blizzard or reddit regarding the submission.
Activision Blizzard is currently taking a hard stand against leaks. For example, the Twitter account of YouTuber “TheGamingRevolution” was banned. He suspects it was at the behest of Activision Blizzard. The YouTuber has passionately leaked information about Call of Duty: Warzone and Activision Blizzard has just as passionately taken down the info. Although, that is much like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube.
