Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is getting a new patch this week. Patch notes are not available yet, but the developers have hinted at what changes are coming.

Original – When will the patch be released? According to Senior Communications Manager Ashton Williams, the new patch for Modern Warfare will be released “this week.” It is expected to be available by Friday, November 22.
It is currently being tested. After that, it will likely be released.
What’s in the update? There are no concrete patch notes from Infinity Ward yet. However, developer David Mickner tweeted that three things are being worked on for the update:
- Fixing issues
- Improving the game
- New content
Mickner also mentions some upcoming changes by name.
New patch in Modern Warfare – What’s coming?
Improvements to Modern Warfare: The upcoming patch is expected to help make the kill feed cleaner (via Twitter). This provides more space for more important displays in the feed. Some messages will no longer appear, for instance, when players:
- are promoted
- have vengeanced you
- or have saved you
Additionally, further adjustments to weapons are possible – such as a further balance update for the 725. Tanks in Ground War mode may also receive a nerf soon. A upcoming nerf for tanks has already been confirmed, but without a date so far.
A discussion about “skill-based matchmaking” is currently dominating the topics in the community. There will likely be no change regarding this with the patch. However, the developers may respond to the matter.
Issues addressed: There have been frequent problems with the officer challenges in Modern Warfare. These are among the issues that the developers will likely fix directly in the patch.
The combination of shield and combat knife was also too strong due to a bug. This and similar issues are probably a priority.
