The maps of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are a big topic in the community and are being hotly debated. We want to know in a survey what you expect from the developers regarding maps.
Why are the maps such a topic? In a multiplayer shooter like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the maps have a significant influence on how the game plays.
Specific map elements or a certain layout can help players develop strategies that work on every map. However, Modern Warfare 2019 does not quite work that way anymore – much to the concern of some players.

Maps in Modern Warfare 2019 are quite different
Why are the maps different than before? The maps of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are based on a different fundamental layout than the earlier parts of the series.
The old fundamental layout essentially consists of a 3-lane system and can be well explained by the layout of a house.
- Lane – combat area inside the house
- short paths and fire distances, many hiding spots
- Recommended weapons: shotguns & SMGs
- Lane – war in the front yard
- already not as cluttered shooting field, good hiding spots
- Recommended weapons: assault rifles
- Lane – sniper combat on the open road
- wide and open areas, few hiding spots, but cover is available
- Recommended weapons: sniper, single-shot rifle
The maps were often equipped with such a fundamental layout, including hybrids or extreme variants with only one lane.

3-lanes are not completely disappearing, but almost
Has the typical layout completely disappeared? Not exactly. One of the new maps released since launch is based on the old fundamental layout.
However, with Modern Warfare 2019, this foundation has been more or less abandoned. The maps at launch all offer an individual layout and thus also partially completely new experiences.
However, not every CoD soldier is happy about this, we have already reported about this dissatisfaction.
Therefore, we want to know from you what kind of maps you wish for? Are you fans of the earlier Modern Warfares and desperately want to play the old maps again, or maybe you also appreciate the more individual layout of the new maps? Tell us in this survey:
