How long does Season 2 in Modern Warfare still run? Taking a look at the Battle Pass of Season 2, it’s clear that Season 2 will end on Wednesday, April 8th at 8:00 AM German time.
Until the start of Season 3, you can secure the last tiers of the Battle Pass with double XP. Since there were apparently some issues with progression and XP distribution over the weekend, the XP event has been extended until the start of Season 3:

Everything we know so far about Season 3 of CoD: Modern Warfare
Where do the infos come from? Officially, we only know when Season 2 ends and that Season 3 starts immediately afterward. From the first published images, we also know which operators to expect:
However, there are many infos from interesting leaks and some data finds in the game itself, so one can already get a first picture of what we can expect with Season 3.
Keep in mind: Many of the infos consist of unconfirmed data. So take everything with a grain of caution.
When does Season 3 start for Modern Warfare?
The start date of Season 3: The start in Germany is on April 8th at 8 AM. Season 3 starts directly after the end of Season 2.
Start delay due to update for Season 3? The new season is likely to be initiated by a big update – this is considered certain. This must first be downloaded and installed to dive into the new content.
The start of Season 3 will also depend on how quickly you have downloaded the new data. There are no official figures about the size of the download so far. However, it seems that no one will be able to start exactly at 8:00 AM.
Modern Warfare Battle Pass for Season 3
What’s included in the Battle Pass for Season 2? It is also considered certain that there will be a new Battle Pass with 100 tiers for Season 3. Even before the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the developers confirmed that they will rely on this model.
Since the previous two Battle Passes have exhibited identical formats, one can assume that this will not change with Season 3. Through the Battle Pass, you will continue to receive various cosmetic rewards like operator skins, CoD points, XP boosts, as well as new blueprints and weapons.
Do you have to buy the Modern Warfare Season 3 Battle Pass? Only if you want to fully utilize all its rewards. This will likely cost you 10€ or 1,000 CoD points in Season 3 as well. Generally, however, the Battle Pass is not mandatory.
Because besides the paid premium rewards branch, the pass also offers a free rewards branch, which all players have access to. There, you simply get fewer rewards, but still all gameplay-relevant items, such as new base weapons.

Will there be new operators? After new operators have been introduced with each new season so far, it is also firmly believed that there will be additional ones in Season 3.
According to a leak, it will involve
- Alex
- and Ronin
According to the images released from Season 3 by Infinity Ward, Alex (from the campaign) has already been confirmed, and Ronin is also practically confirmed.

What about new weapons? There has already been a leak where the two new weapons of Season 3 might have been revealed.
The following weapons are expected to be introduced via the Battle Pass with Season 3:
- a SKS, a new semi-automatic DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle) produced in Russia. It is expected to have a higher rate of fire than all other firearms in this class. However, a precisely placed shot should suffice for you to not need any follow-up shots.
- the Renetti, a semi-automatic 9mm pistol that is expected to shine particularly at short distances.
Unfortunately, there were no images of the two new firearms.
Will there be new maps for traditional multiplayer? Recently, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was released, but only with the single-player campaign – completely without multiplayer.
Afterward, Activision stated that they will be adding popular classic maps from the Modern Warfare series to the multiplayer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 to avoid unnecessarily dividing the community. And as it seems, with Season 3 at least 2 popular maps are expected to make their way into the current Modern Warfare iteration.
After the last update for Modern Warfare, a bug revealed that apparently the maps
- Backlot from MW1
- and Village from MW3
have already been found in the data but are not yet in the game. A leak had also previously mentioned these two maps in Season 3. It is therefore firmly assumed that both maps will be included in the game with Season 3.
Warzone players will also benefit from Season 3
What’s new for Call of Duty: Warzone? There has also been a leak suggesting that Season 3 will at least bring several new modes for the free-to-play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone.
These include:
- Battle Royale Duos for teams of 2 players.
- Battle Royale Quads for teams of 4 players
- Battle Royale High Action, where the deadly gas circle moves much faster. So, additional speed comes into play
- Battle Royale Shotty Snipers, where you only engage with shotguns and sniper rifles, and loadout drops are disabled
- Battle Royale One Shot. Here, headshots are lethal. There are no loadout drops
- Realism Battle Royale with realism rules – no HUD and increased headshot damage
- Hardcore Battle Royale in hardcore format: weapons are generally much deadlier, no HUD, and friendly fire is active
When exactly these modes will become active as part of Season 3 and whether they are temporary or permanent modes was not revealed by the leak.
Modern Warfare lets the end of Season 2 fade out from April 3rd with double XP. So, it’s worth checking back then – especially if you’re looking to level up weapons or the Season 2 Battle Pass.
